No, you’re eyes are not deceiving you — that is indeed one giant, tablet-ized version of the Samsung Galaxy S your weary eyes are peepin’. Posted by the official Twitter page for Samsung South Africa, the tablet was referred to as the “Galaxy Tab”. Right now all we know is that the thing runs Android with TouchWiz UI, operates on 3G networks, has a front-facing camera and 3.5mm headphone jack. The presence of a “Phone” icon also suggests that the Galaxy tab will also be able to place calls, although it it not clear yet if a headset — Bluetooth or otherwise — will be required. A later tweet from Samsung South Africa also claimed that “this particular one is a 7″ model and has a high-res TFT screen.” This of course makes sense considering that such a large AMOLED display would be incredibly expensive to produce and sell and that there is currently a shortage of the such displays. Then again, there were those S-Pad rumors floating around a few months ago. Would it be wrong for us to read a lot into the “this particular one” and assume that there are more coming, perhaps ones with nicer displays?
