Android version of Mozilla Fennec pictured on Nexus One and DROID
Not a heck of a lot to report on this one, but a picture is worth a thousand words, no? The Mozilla team has posted a couple teasers pictures, on their Facebook page, of the Fennec mobile browser running on the HTC Nexus One and Motorola DROID. No word on a release time line or when a public build of the mobile Mozilla offering will be available to the masses. We’ve got the DROID picture queued up for you after the break.

Why the hell does everyone always say “first” on this website? It adds nothing to the conversation!

If you notice in the Droid picture, there’s something scribbled in the background that says “N900″. 98% sure that it’s talking about the Nokia N900… and also, it seems that they’re gonna implement HTML5 into their browser…(also scribbled in the bacground)

html5 has been implemented in the desktop version of firefox, v3.6 iirc.
there’s also a copy of “if you give a moose a muffin” maybe there going to implement the browser to give a moose a muffin?
Now I dont know which browser to use on my Nexus. Skyfire is coming to Android, Firefox, Stock or Dolphin but then also Opera Mobile is suppose to be ported to Android.
internet explorer? lynx?
man I just can’t wait to play with this phone in person…hopefully verizon has an in store demo
N900 is in the background because mozilla already makes the browser for maemo, I don’t think you can take much from some scribble on a white board.
Most people agree the n900 has just about the best mobile browser, so it’ll be nice if fennec can be had on my droid.

@gomer
Don’t expect Fennec to perform even close to as well as the N900’s default browser. While it, too, supports plugins, and runs Mozilla’s Gecko rendering engine, the N900’s browser is far better than Fennec, and most prefer it by a landslide.
Fennec has a ways to go, but is still better than most of what’s on smartphones. Once Flash is hardware accelerated, it’ll be alot better.
So don’t think this’ll turn your Nexus One into an N900. Close, but not quite.
God I hope the camera that took the pic of the droid is not from the Nexus 1.

Rules 1 and 2….
Iphone fan boy?
Hell I have an iPhone 3g and I’m not saying i don’t like it but I want something that I can customize without having to jailbreak. Right now I’m waiting for the desire for AT&T but I’m not saying I won’t consider the iPhone 4g…. And I mean consider only

The only thing that would save the “droid” and have me get down from my dresser would be if they ported Safari to it. The “droid” would benefit so much from from a good experience when browsing the web. And where’s my 2.1 verizon???

dude, Safari is a baby browser. No Flash, too uch blocked content. Ignore the media and choose Dolphin or Fennec for Android or the Symbian or Maemo browser from Nokia. Then Jobs can stop nickle and diming you for content.
Who is upranking this guy?? Safari is not the best browsing experience and Fennec with flash is 10 times better. Get a clue!
Firefox for Android (aka Fennec) will probably be the preferred browser. Sorry but Safari doesn’t hold a candle to Firefox.
I thought we would be spared from “Mr. Blurrycam” photos since these were official “leaked” photos…and then I saw the DROID one. Seriously, how hard is it to set your camera to micro??!
*macro??!
I WANT MY 2.1 AND I WANT IT NOW!!!!

Please provide a link to some sort of article that shows that Verizon is in any danger of going out of business. I bet you cannot find any.

Wow, what an intelligent response. I just want to see some facts to back up all these “Verizon is going under” post. Judging by your response you can’t. I think your the “idiot”, not me. I guess children will be children.
THAT was funny
Actually if you look across the pond there’s a huge amount of evidence that Verizon is in trouble! They’ve made poor choices not only Europe but in North American technologies and spectrum allotments. You can look it up yourself it’s in black and white.

how dumb…

@christexaport
I’m hoping some on the mozilla n900 mojo flows over into fennec. I’m not saying it’ll be as good, but I’m hoping it brings android browsing up to par. I’m rooted using the multitouch milestone browser, and it just isn’t as polished as safari or webos browsing.
polished is the last thing i’d call web browsing on iphone or webos. Go with the browsers that support the most web content. That’s Nokia’s Symbian browser with Flash or the Maemo browser. Fennec is still too jerky on Maemo, only does Flash on YouTube, and has UI issues.
@christexaport,
Wow. Polished is the FIRST thing I would call the iPhone/webOS broswers.
Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).
Why do people say that the iPhone browser is way better than Androids?? My N1’s browser is up to par if not better than my 3GS browser, especially with the annoying checkered patterns that show on iPhones browser.
Why do people care so much about Firefox Mobile? Android already has Dolphin Browser. The SUPERIOR mobile browsing experience.
Multi-touch
Google Integration
FINGER Gestures
Delicious Bookmarks
TABBED BROWSING
This beats the pants off of every browser available. Anywhere.
