Motorola Devour to launch February 25th in indirect channel, full launch March 15th

devour-launch

One of our connects came through for us and provided launch documents for the Motorola Devour. As rumored, the Devour will launch in the indirect channel via authorized distributors on February 25th with a full launch in all channels to follow on March 15th. Unfortunately, Verizon has gotten wise to these anonymous leaks and has removed the pricing details from the launch documents but multiple sources have told us that Big Red is aiming for that sweet $99 price point. An exhaustive list of specifications and a few pertinent slides are after the jump. Enjoy!

I seen at best buy they got Pre-sale to reserve the phone for 50 bucks. Also you don’t have to deal with rebates

Kinda turned off by the first-gen sized screen, but I still love Motorola and like to see an underdog bounce back. Any word on whether this will update to 2.1? Pinch-to-zoom(Not that I plan on buying it)?

Ugly? Dude, this thing looks sweet. Great color scheme + it looks like a modern version of the Razr. I thought Motorola laid off all of their top engineers?!

I just hope it’s not too thick. 0.61 inches, I need to get out my ruler.

I think it will do well with the younger aged market.
Until they find it it’s $30 a month per phone

    All these “smartphones” coming out.
Verizon seriously needs a family friendly data plan.

The more I see this phone, the more I think it will be a good keyboard. I mean, the buttons are smaller than I’d prefer, but I said the same about my first Blackberry (8300) and wound up loving it to death.

as a CLIQ owner, i have to say this is a pretty good looking device. It has a similar look to the droid, as well as the Sidekick Slide.

I can’t believe the megapixel amount on this thing though, seriously 3?! Atleast it has flash though.

And flash lite rumored to run on this thing isn’t so bad either.

Android 1.6, really? We’re in 2010, not 09. Why are phones still geting released with 1.6? This is one of the main reasons why I don’t want an Android phone yet. Updates are a joke! Who doesn’t want to buy a phone with old software and not know if or when it will get updated. lol

Next up, Nexus One on Verizon. Compare that and Droid and we’ll see where things are.

    Abrown says:

So, if I’m going to go on and get a data plan that costs me $30 on top of my plan PER phone I might as well go whole hog and get a Nexus One whenever it comes to Verizon. VZW needs two things…some kind of family data plan so I don’t have to fork out $60 more dollars a month just so my wife and I can have a data plan. And they need to seriously lower the price of their data plans anyway. I mean once smartphones dominate the lineup of phones to choose from how many will be turned off by having to buy the data plan just because you have a data ready device? They should let us choose if we just want to use the wifi on the phone without having a ridiculous data plan. Lastly, I think either they need to lower the price of data or have a better tiered system so if you want a “budget” smartphone you can have a smaller data plan thats like $10 a month and then $30 for so called “power users” or with high end smartphones.

But enough ranting, VZW wouldn’t listen to me, and they wouldn’t want to give up ridiculous plans that they make $$$ off me I’m sure.

    Dave,

There is no prepaid meter deployed in France. Actually the EU is forcing all the EU countries to adopt a real-time monitoring of the usage in order to charge customers the exact amount of their consumption.

This is to make sure that end-users pay what they consume, and not more.

France is at the edge of an overhaul to real-time metering like several other advanced nations. As of 2009 a world trend is underway – a lean toward global advanced metering (32 nations already onboard) for completely replacing old electromechanical meters with basic electronic meters. Bear in mind that like most Euro nation, France is on a 220 volts/50hz draw (USA on 110). Wheras the supply point is ranged at 220-240v, the electronic metering technology enables the choice of upgrade or downgrade swing between 3KW to 36KW on the customer’s end of the interface device. The ratio of the electromechanical versus the electronic (AMR and AMI) meters would tilt commensurate to consumer awareness and qualitative demands for real-time measuring and accurate billing. Even prepayment meters in the UK will sharply decline, and begin to edge out. More to come…——–

I really like the solid housing of the Motorola Devour phone that is currently offered via Verizonwireless but I cannot stand the thought of paying out for an additonal $30/mo for a data plan that I could careless for. I am sure there are folks out there that feel the same way. They just want a phone that does not look like a kid ’s toy. I absolutely agree with Abrown that VZW should take into consideration of the “budget folks” to capture their market share. I dream that VZW would listen and fulfill some of their current customer desires.
