First Samsung handset with Bada due out in March/April?
Shin Jon-kyun, Samsung’s President of handsets, made an announcement to The Korean Herald about his company’s mobile platform venture known as “bada.” “Currently, bada does not have a prominent presence in the market. But we plan to launch our first bada phone in late March or early April globally… we seek to make a big success with bada.” Will it be on the mysterious device that popped up on our radar screens last November? Who knows. Samsung has been very stingy with details on the new OS; what we do know is that it will have the TouchWiz interface, support multitouch screens, and be built for — initially anyways — all touch screen devices. Looks like we’ll be welcoming bada to the mobile OS family sooner rather than later.

Samasung?
Wow. Thank you, fixed.
Can’t wait for the Bada ss edition. ‘bad ass’
But seriously…more competition can’t hurt.
If it shows, be ready for bugs. Samsung is known for treating software development like it’s hardware, ignoring Mythical Man-Month.
Maybe we will learn more about ‘Bada’ at WMC this month. I have to admit that I am curious to know more about it. Not to exited about the use of the Touch Wiz interface though.
Does anyone really care about this? In order for Samsung to have success, they really need to WOW the public as they are FAR behind the competition in terms of release. The fact that TouchWIZ is on this thing really makes me cringe. Talk about ugly and dated. I hope for Samsung’s sake they have a home run with something fresh and original, not some cheesy, uninspired TouchWIZ/iPhone OS amalgamation.
I wonder if the bada platform will have search powered by bing? Bada bing anyone?
Seriously, I saw the headline and Bada Bing was the first thing I thought of, a new bada-Bing alliance to rule the world, with Bill Parcells as the Head Tuna!
If it comes true I will buy this fine product:
My friends: Hey what phone you got there?
Me: BADA-BING!
ROFL!
Badabing….Haha
Need clearifications..
What does “and be built for — initially anyways — all touch screen devices” exactly means? Are they rumouring that all devices (instinct, instinct 360, moment, etc.) that have a touch screen will have a bada build?
Has Samsung asked anyone about the TouchWiz interface? Did they read the reviews that said it ruined the Behold 2? Do they realize that nobody likes it?
It’s a shame, new mobile OS’s are usually pretty exciting.
better not be a fluffed up version of their craptastic Jiz Wiz UI. I’ve been disappointed by samsung so many times I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to get excited about any of their products anymore…
