Think Apple has all price points covered?

We’d say so! From $59 to $7,000, if you want an Apple product, there’s a pretty darn good chance you’ll be able to pick something in your price range. Simply brilliant. Full size image link after the break…

Ha ha! These comments are funny, keep them coming people!!:)
I didn’t even know how much macs cost. Wow.
Just to be clear, even though an i7 rig costs 1200, people are still buying last gen hardware for double?

“I didn’t even know how much macs cost. Wow.”
I am confused, are you not the same person who explains how much they know about Apple’s business? How could a person so educated in all things digital not know prices?
Just to be clear too, GM still sells cars (Windows), strange that people are still buying BMW’s and Benz’s (you know).
I looked into this, it was weird. It seems that GM vehicles have four tires and steering wheels also, but people still by expensive cars. There must be something in the user experience.

jarrett,
Why would I care what a Mac costs?
I have no idea what a Dell costs, or a Gateway either. If their prices were as skewed as Apple’s, I’d laugh at them too. I do know how much a computer costs at newegg though.
I don’t know why you’re talking about GM.
I just told you the price of a Ferrari (i7 rig), and you’re stuck defending a year old BMW that costs twice as much.

It’s funny how many times I read the car analogy but haters never seem to understand. BotTom line, if you think a BMW is overpriced, DON’T BUY ONE! If you think Apple computer’s are over priced, DON’T BUY ONE! Whatever you do, stop raining on everybody else’s parade.

I keep hearing this over priced arguement. When I think of products that are over priced I think of things that don’t sell.
obviously you dont know the existence of rich people and fanboys.

Or maybe we’re just taking into account all the people who want to buy a computer and have it last more than 2 years.
I’ve seen many-a-Windows PC fall apart and get replace throughout the life of my MacBook Pro. And I, personally, would take length of life and hardware reliability over a cheap fix any day of the week.
Well considering I “BMOPC” and have seen a number of Apple products fail during it’s life time. Sure I have had to replace a part… once… and I upgraded a component or two but as a everyday PC it would still be running at 5 years on. I am looking to BMO again and since Mac still won’t let me put my sweat and blood into B-ingMO, I won’t be pushing any money their way.
Awaits the falming to begin
they don’t sell to people with a brain. they sell to idiots that are attracted to the shiny apple logo.

this is stupid, cover all the price points with all the different products?
then in non PC world, they got $1,2,3,4,5….100,1001,1002,1003,……4000,4001,4002
all covered!
u fanboys, brainless article

non “apple” world, mis type
and 1000,1001,1002…
Not that I’m a fanboy or anything (I recently jumped the Apple ship and ditched my iPhone for the Moto Droid; never been happier
), but I think the point the author is trying to get across is how impressive it is for one company to have this many price ranges in their arsenal. Sure there are separate “Apple” and “PC” worlds, but Apple is one company, and the “PC” world is comprised of dozens of companies.
Just my two cents.
I think after all the fanboys buy the iPad, it won’t do that much more selling. It’s really not that great of a product. No expandable memory, no USB port, No camera, No flash support, No multitasking. No QWERTY keyboard. No thanks.
So wait, what DOES it actually do? Oh yeah! It’s a $700 paperweight that also plays music and movies!

@ Ben,
This device will only be limited by what the developers build for it. It is as simple as that.
Hey Jarrett, why even respond? They have no idea…
Sorry to burst your bubble… But it’s also limited by hardware I/O omissions, lack of OS-supported multitasking, zero expandable memory, and not to mention the total absence of freedom given to the end user.
The next iterations of the iPad product line may very well be worth the wait and price. But as for the current model, I see no reason to think twice about it.
(I’m a fan of Apple. Long time MacBook Pro and iPod user. Don’t bite my head off for disliking a product that does not appeal to me.)
ahh… an apple fan that can think for themself. i applaud you sir. you “think” differently from these other fools. *cough*gil*cough*and his lover*cough*jarrett*
Ben, no use arguing with these apple sackriding idiots. in their eyes apple can do absolutely nothing wrong and only do everything right. apple loves releasing gimped products that these idiots will eat up like hotcakes. if it has a missing feature, these idiots will chime, “it doesn’t need it!” please. you only say that because apple told you you don’t need it. they tell you what you can and can’t have and you just take it like the bitches you are. all you do is repeat apple’s pr like it is gospel. you fools seriously don’t think apple is like a cult? if you don’t, don’t get pussyhurt about any negative comments about your stupid fruit company. if iphone OS EVER gets multitasking these morons will be claiming it as the greatest thing ever. but… i thought you didn’t need it? oops. i guess if apple says you need it you need it. LOL.
Actually, it has both a virtual QWERTY and the option to buy a hardware keyboard via dock option as an accessory. Perhaps, you didn’t do your research on the product before writing your comment.
However, like you, I too won’t buy it because it lacks core features such as a camera and Adobe Flash support at the present time. I was also hoping they include Verizon as a data partner. Where I live, Verizon has better data throughput than ATT’s 3g platform.
i have a belly button
Maybe it’s just me, but I am getting so tired of this Apple shilling by BGR. Perhaps a renaming of the site to the Apple Genius Report is in order? Who the F has time, as a journalist who has the entire electronics frontier to cover, to sit down and list, in order from least expensive to most expensive, every single product Apple manufactures, and even to create a cute little graphic to let all it’s readers see how expansive and just plain ‘ole neat Apple’s pricing structure is. This used to be my favorite site to read – I’d pay fees for internet access at an airport to read it – but it’s become nothing but a big Apple fansite. From every product being compared to the G-D iPhone, including dumb feature phones which aren’t even in the same class of device, to the blatant bias and double-standards dripping from every Apple product review (most recently in the laughable iPad reviews and non-stop coverage which a plurality of the tech-blog world agrees sucks ass all the while BGR touts it as the Second Coming), it’s just annoying and plain bad journalism. Perhaps you don’t consider yourself a journalistic endeavor, and that’s fine, but just stop trying to push yourself off as such. As annoying as Engadget can be sometimes with their lame attempts at humor, at least they have the journalistic integrity to cite their sources before deciding to rip off someone else’s story.

@ Wes,
My guess would be that BGR’s response to your concerns would be something like, “It is my site, I will post what I want.”
Strange I know, I mean, a content creator writting what they want to write about.
The easy way to fix your problem, visit a different site.
“If you can’t drink the kool-aid without complaining about the bitter taste of poison, people, I’m going to have to ask you to get the f**k out.

Jarrett”
@ Wes,
Well said Dan.
geez, get off his nuts lol. you apple fanboys are so pathetic.
@ Jarrett,
Well summarized, perhaps, but definitely not well said.
Here Here. Wes says it straight.
Apple is a cult in imho.
Enought of Apple hype and let’s read how much billionaire Jobs donates to charities as do Gates and Buffet
what? no iPhonies?
Hey! What a nice line of crippled products!!!
Love the IPAD, can’t wait to get one, apple=quality not going to get that without paying
i think Apple and their voracious rabid fans are a cult. they are blind to anything else and insult anyone who does not care to get an Apple product.
cults
WTF are you talking about?!?
Are we still talking about a consumer electronics company or an evil secret cabal with an unspeakable plan to destroy the world?
Do people hear themselves?
if you don’t think people will buy a product just because it has an apple logo on it, no matter how inferior it is compared to competitors, i have some land to sell you.
now show a similar chart on apple battery lifespan to incorporate into our budget
There’s a crucial problem with the point they’re trying to make with this chart. The ‘price points’ Apple covers is relative to each product type. So, in the market of notebooks, Apple covers the $999 to $2,499+ range; not that impressive really (not bad, but not even noteworthy). That also isn’t everyone’s price range, most people get what they need for decently less in most other places.
This chart makes no sense because it mixes product types and that invalidates the data. When you break the chart into the price ranges of each product type, it’s pretty much just higher end tech products that appeal to a certain audience (aka, Apple).
So, the chart doesn’t display any actual data, it’s just a list. The only other info we have is a few sentences praising the results of said list in near advertisement form. We can logically say this article is trash now, and it’s actually not Apple’s fault. =]
lol @ all the people getting downrated for not sackriding apple. get a life people. apple is just another faceless corporation that wants your money for their shiny crap. who cares if it can’t do this or that. it’s shiny and has an apple logo. you will buy it! people that can actually think for themselves are speaking their minds and you little bitches can’t take it.
apple may be the best tablet for now? what does that even mean? it’s not even a tablet. it’s a giant ipod touch.

PC boys whistling by the grave yard.
can get a very good Mp3 player from another brand with more space and a frkn screen, cheaper E-Readers than the $500 iPad unless u want color screen, cheaper phones than the $700 iPhone

This discussion has been quite entertaining and appears to have been responded too by a bunch of childish 5 year olds.
Since they obviously profess to be so knowledgeable I would be curious however to know what “tek2k and derpassante” are using to fill this niche or would recommend as an equivalent Windows, Linux or Chrome based product?
Unfortunately I don’t think tek2k would be able to respond to this. He has commented a lot, but all of his comments are basically the same thing… apple sucks….apple fanboys are gay… he actually hasn’t said a single half-intelligent thing, or even shown that he has any knowledge about computers at all. He is basically like that one guy in high school who was really really dumb, so to make up for it he just runs his mouth.
I’m confused by all the attention brought by this article. It’s just a list with pretty colors that says, “if you have x dollars in your pocket and you want something with an apple logo on it, they’ve got you covered.” That’s meaningless. You could make an equally pointless chart for, say, Best Buy. “Oh, you have $900, and you don’t know what to do with it? Check out this sweet washing machine.” Yes, I can make the comparison because Apple is also a retailer. The difference is that you can’t walk into an Apple store and say, “I have $700 to spend on a LAPTOP. What do you offer at my price point?” I’m generally indifferent to Apple (I own some products, choose other brands for others); I just wanted to comment on the existence of this “chart.”

I hate cheap people with low IQs
What happened to me? How come no one talks about me anymore. I am so bored with this Crapple vs Microshaft. Time to talk about Baud rates, 5.5 inch floppies, and high speed Dot Matrix!!!
Nice article. But I will never understand some apple people. What drives you to overpay in some cases hundreds of dollars for something thats not worth anything close to that amount? I mean no disrespect but why do u let urself fall into the hole that is apple? they are cheating u and stealing ur money
2500+ for a desktop? You can buy a computer for less with far better specs. And for those that are technology inclined, you could build a monster desktop with quality matl for less and it does so much more. Please do not flame im just trying to understand ur reasoning here.
You can buy an adding machine or abacus to do the same thing much, much cheaper. Try that and then let me know how it works out for you.
The jealousy and craving for an Apple product by you pee cee ers is noted. Sorry you don’t yet have success enough to afford good equipment. Keep buying the cheap stuff, it always gives you something to do when you leave this blog.
So tell me who sells the equivalent of an iPod Touch at a cheaper price than $199? (Please don’t say the Zune HD). Which phone that is equivalent to the iPhone sells for less?
I dont know if any one care anymore but apple does = Quality. Their products are slightly higher in price but consider that their on their own. They are an independent company succeeding over dosens of corprations, ie. micro, dell, hp, sony, ext. The fact that they made a come back, and such an empressive one, meens that apple rocks. Their products all rock iphone 4 best phone, deffinetally better than droid. You have to use it to believe it. Soo want all apple products
It’s just a visual representation of their product prices. They didn’t have something around the $500-$700 price point (besides, say a Mac mini) and now they have closed the gap.
It’s impressive.

It’s not impressive. They’re different product types. If you could make a graph like that for each of their product lines (iphone, ipod, laptops, desktops, ipad, apple tv, etc), then it would be impressive. This is just graphs from Apple fanboys.

What a pathetic display. You could say the same for any company like HP, Dell, MSFT, etc. What’s the point, other than another useless AAPL article.
Did Cupertino’s check clear yet, or was it a straight-up cash payment this time?

I think it was a fair attempt. You can’t please everybody in this world, and if you attempt to please people to be liked then you’d be the real tool.
Wow I think the disliked opinions show that your wrong about this article.
How does it feel to be drowned on your own web site?
