BlackBerry Tour 9630 gets 5.0 OS upgrade from VZ in Feb/March
We have just received word that Verizon will officially release a 5.0 OS upgrade for the BlackBerry Tour 9630 in “late February / early March.” Anyone want to bet the BlackBerry Tour2 will hit before that?
I just upgraded from Pearl to a Tour. I wanted to get the Droid Eris so badly but didn’t want to fork out 99 bucks. I went to Sam’s Club and the had the Tours for FREE, so that was an easy choice. Now I LOVE the Tour and BB. The Pearl almost made me leave due to the lack of memory and apps that work. Oh and the small screen. Besides that it is a great into to BB phone for what it does in one little device. But the Tour was my saving grace. Crystal clear screen, full keyboard, flash and video w/ zoom and the apps that work. Oh yeah, BB messenger! NBA Game Time, Weather Bug, etc. Plus I now have a free Hero theme which does the same thing as the SenseUI. Sold me!

I upgraded to the Tour the day of its release and while it has been a great device, the lack of a properly-functioning trackball left me with a bad taste (WiFi is of no concern to me). And within a couple of months of the 9630’s release, images of the Tour2 are revealed? I hate you RIM. And I hate you Verizon.
And no, I wouldn’t be surprised.
Just bought a Blackberry Tour 9630. Went to the Verizon store to replace battery on 2 yr old phone and there was I thought a good deal on the Blackberry. Had it about a week and it has crashed/hung at least 5 or 6 times, sometimes with exception errors . Does s/w version 5.0 fix these software bugs? Is this device running Microsoft software? sure seem like it . . . .

I bought the tour when it first came out. After the first four weeks the trackball started acting up. I opted to get a refurbished and when recieved, did not work properly. I have patience….I recieved another refurbished and the trackball did not work properly!!! Luckily, I kept my original phone and sent back both refurbished phones…I spoke with verizon and explained to them that I need a blackberry that works due to my business. I remained patient and well mannered while explaining to them how crucial the phone is to me for business….They explained to me that the first batch of tours had some trackball issues and that the phone I bought( when they were first released) was part of that batch. Verizon sent me a brand new phone that has absolutely rocked for months….I need the speed…Point being, know the return policy and keep your cool!!! I have been with verizon for about 14 years. I pay more but with the travels…it is well worth it because I have bars. Thank you verizon and Rimm!
I currently have Verizon Tour 1, been running OS 5.0.0.419 and lovin it so far! Graphics seem even better and speed is A Still testing things though
I want that update. how did you get it, is there anyway you can share the file
which did you install?!?!? Sprints?
