Chrome browser climbs over Safari for No. 3 spot
Google’s Chrome browser has only been on the market for 16 months, but it has already taken a good share of the market and beat out Safari for the number three spot. Safari, for the first time ever, is now ranked fourth. By the end of December, Chrome was up at 4.63% market share whereas Safari fell to about 4.46%. Of course, the big boost likely came from the fact that Chrome Beta became officially available for Mac and Linux. Top dogs are still Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer, with IE8 still at the top but failing to see any real growth. So tell us, what browser are you currently using and why (speed, extensions, apps, etc)?
When I’m on the web, I’m looking to get to where I want as quickly as possible. I don’t use add-ons and the such and after using IE & FF, Chrome delivers best on the speed that I want. I like most things Google anyway and I love the new tab page previews and the themes, plus the maximized page space instead of all the crappy toolbars that take up valuable screen space. Not being the big Apple fan (i know – hate me), I haven’t even tried Safari, although after reading into available browsers, even though it sounds like a solid browser, I’m sticking with what I know to be fast. Don’t see myself switching any time soon!

I’ll agree and say Safari loads everything right, but IE is HOPELESS at getting the layout right. It doesn’t even support certain things (like round corners, for example) that other browsers like Firefox, Opera & Safari have supported for years.
I absolutely love Chrome! Prior to switching to it a few months ago, I was using Firefox, and there is no way I will go back. Just yesterday I downloaded the Beta version, and I love the extensions. I installed quite a few and my browser still runs just as lightning fast as it did before. It is truly the best browser out there, in my opinion.
Chrome is The best browser for the Netbook.
Lets not forget that Google has been advertising Chrome all over their websites, such as Youtube.
I go with Opera, sure it’s not as popular as firefox, ie, or even chrome now. It should be though, it’s a really great browser, I downloaded some widgets, but never use them

I use firefox simply for the adblock+. I absolutely love how fast webpages open when you dont have to load BS ads from servers all over the internet. I will never use another browser that doesnt support some form of adblocking.
I would switch to Chrome—but I need X-marks support first.

chrome. the custom search engine built into the address bar makes it golden.
Chrome on windows. I’ve tried the beta on Linux and there’s some flakiness with Flash, that causes the browser to crash. So, I only play with the beta on linux.

Currently jumping between Firefox and Chrome.
I like Chrome a lot, but it still needs a little tweaking for mac. (It is beta, after all)
Firefox 4 also looks very promising, so I’m curious to see which one I will end up sticking with.
Camino is also a very cool, lesser known browser for mac.
Using Chrome and I love it. I love Google apps and I just installed the Chrome Beta so I can use extensions with Chrome. I think they designed the Beta well, so they could add the extensions without adding taking away from display real estate.
Firefox for the speed and compatibility with most sites. Security features are nice, too.
Web devs still favor Internet Exploder for obvious reasons so I find myself using that about 25% of the time.
I have been meaning to try Chrome.
“Chrome” This is the word i recommended my friends but when it doesnt seems to fit when you have many bookmarks. It will crash. The browser couldnt get back to the normal even when you reinstall it.
Opera version 10! I am pretty sure that Opera is the only browser that allows syncing across multiple PCs.
Firefox for the speed and compatibility with the websites. Security features are excellent.
I use IE8 only when I have to, some sites still favor IE8 only.
I tried Chrome but couldn’t get use to it.

I like chrome better. It seems to me that apple has already stolen a few ideas from google to make safari.
Since I updated the Firefox browser 3.6.3, I have had issues with hanging and slow performance. I decided to hold a crude speed test using my cell phone’s stopwatch and started it when I rebooted my computer with one of the three browsers (IE 8, Firefox 3.6.3, Chrome 4.1.249) having NPR player five minute news summary as the start-up home page. All browsers have at least ten or more add-ons, Here are the results in minutes and seconds:
1. Google Chrome – 1:48
2. Internet Explorer – 2:11
3. Mozilla Firefox – 3:15
To my surprise, IE 8 beat Firefox 3.6.3 but the winner was Google’s simple Chrome that is stable and secure.
I forgot to mention that I have a Dell dimension 4500 that has Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002

Sorry I do not write much and to be clear I pasted one of the three browser short cuts in the start menu’s startup folder so when the computer rebooted the browser would open on the desktop. I hope all this was clear.
