Sprint support site confirms webOS 1.3.5 to be released today
No official announcements from Palm, but the Sprint support website seems to have spilled the proverbial beans on webOS 1.3.5. Listed with a release date of 12/28/09, and fixes that include:
- Improvement in battery life optimization when in marginal coverage areas.
- QCELP capability fix to allow play and audio of video sent via MMS.
- Launch Google Maps or Sprint Nav when tapping an address from contacts.
- Minimized package of MR size through binary difference. Customers can now download over 2G connections if necessary.
Not the most mind-blowing release notes, but all you webOS sympathizers keep your eyes peeled and your fingers on the update trigger.

Why oh why are the iPhone trolls the first to usually want to comment on a Pre post?… so insecure…

I heard the 1.3.5 update also fixes the installed app limit on the Pre. Isn’t that pretty significant?

Is this also for the pixi?

Looking forward to the battery life optimization. When we went to my parents’ house for the weekend, my wife and I both lost battery power quickly because of the poor signal (they live in BFE).

i don’t know why all companies are trying to match the iphone’s interface instead of surpassing it. symbian, android and even winmo outperforms the iphone in the sense that they can multitask, but instead are designing their interface to look like apple’s with all the transitions. yes it is cool, but that is its three years old. so i think they are moving backwards instead of forward. next year apple will/might/maybe revamp their interface, and everybody will try to match it. now its all about apps and an app store, it took one company to shake up a sleeping industry. nokia could have done that years ago with ovi because symbian has been around before the iphone and there are thousands of apps available, but they were not that easy to get, but now they have ovi, nokia dropped the bal on this one.
the only company i see that is going to cause earthquakes and volcanic eruptions in the industry is “else mobile” check them out.
Palm is apparently releasing updates my region. No update for DC yet but a user on Engadget reports thats 1.3.5 also brings visual voicemail and bluetooth voive dialing.
Have you actually used the webOS?… the interface is very much its own… From the gestures to the transistion…
Just because its a Touchscreen that doesn’t = an iPhone wanna copier….
Always remember… Tap Tap Tap… for EVERYTHING on the iPhone

thank you.. someone else said it.
iPhone interface is simply this.. tap tap, wait, tap tap.
how is that intuitive?
Also, if it wasn’t for Palm way back in the mid 90’s, the iPhone wouldn’t exist.
I am so sick and tired of this battle. Who cares who owns what device? If you want pure multimedia, then fine stay with the iPhone… if you want pure email/sms then you’re platform would likely be Blackberry. If you’re totally into social networking, then your answer is Android. Palm is a nice balance between all areas and for a first generation device on an entirely new platform, I give palm and webOS all the credit to have had the success they have had so far. This world has become so greedy and selfish… “i want this.. i want that.. this should have this.. this should have that” and there is absolutely no loyalty anymore, just a bunch of sheep following the crowd.
As for the poster who posted that everyone copies iPhone interface ,last I checked webOS and their gestures, card view etc does not at all ‘copy’ apples interface. Palm shook up the industry last CES, and if they had the appropriate resources and marketing at their fingertips they’d for sure be the leader, but it’s one step at a time.

According to a recent article on PreCentral, Palm CEO Jon Rubinstein not only confirmed the work on the upcoming webOS 1.3.5, but he also unveiled some of the goodies that the upcoming operating system iteration is set to arrive on the market with:
- Allowing for installation of more apps
- Enhances WiFi and app performance
- Improved battery life
- Increased speed and responsiveness on the Palm Pixi
Any word on if/when this will be available on Bell in Canada? Not showing up for me when I do a manual update.
I’m beginning to think this was a premature post by Engadget and BGR! No one here can download this update and tons on Engadget are reporting “no download available”!! If this post was true there is no reason at 6:25pm that no one can download this “released” software.
Just talked to a Palm rep in my store. The update is being pushed back up to two weeks for reasons unknown to him.
Both our Pre and Pixi in our Sprint store are downloading, check again
thanks that good
