Motorola Opus One specifications

Motorola-Opus-One_1

When we say we have specifications, boy, do we mean it. One of our connects has sent us the full rundown on Motorla’s Opus One (their first iDEN Android handset) that we revealed a little while back. The features on the device are actually pretty reasonable, and we’d imagine it to sell for a reasonable attractive price-point at release. The Motorola Opus One will run Android 1.5 with iDEN service enhancements, make use of a “Zeus” CPU, and will feature a 3 megapixel autofocus camera.

Detailed list of full specs after the breakage!

  • 3.1″ hVGA 320×480 capacitative touchscreen display
  • 3 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash
  • Accelerometer
  • Proximity sensor
  • Wi-Fi 802.11b/g
  • Bluetooth
  • microSD card slot
  • 2.5mm headset jack
  • Home, Menu, Back, Speaker buttons are capacitive buttons with haptic feedback
  • iDEN PTT & PTX
  • Android LBS which is integrated into the iDEN GPS engine
  • “Enterprise email”
  • Plastic-molded housing with some rubberized texture finishes
  • 58mm in width, 118mm in length
  • 100g weight
  • 512MB Flash / 256MB of RAM
  • 64k and 128k iDEN SIM card support
  • A-GPS
  • Motorola dual-mic technology noise-canceling for noisy enviroments
  • Flash Lite v3.1.x
  • Some of the preloaded apps include: corporate email client with ActiveSync support, MOTONAV navigation app, barcode scanner, and document viewer.

That’s what we have for you on the Motorola Opus One at this time. Not the most mind-blowing Android device, but with it being an iDEN device and all, we’ll cut it some slack and even say that it could do reasonably well at launch.

it seems very, very slow and basic. android 1.5? maybe it will perform ok on the Iden network.

I hope this thing is rugged. With the exception of that iMate phone and some very bulky WinMo devices there are no smartphones on the market that are even remotely close to being rugged enough to use outdoors or that can survive occassional drops that could also be carried in the pocket without a big bulge. Am I missing something? What network powers the voice and data donwloads: Sprint 3G or much slower iDen networks?
I would think that is the top listing in addition to telling us that the Push TO Talk is on iDen. Please correct me if I am mistaken and it is listed

Hey IDK about you people but this would be GOOD NEWS. Im with Nextel and i currently have the i930, i need to upgrade but there’s nothing to upgrade to. So this phone being Android, touchscreen, WiFi etc.

For crying out loud, Nextel customers should reall appreaciate this phone because its the closest we’re gonna get to the iPhone and now the new Nexus One.

As a sprint employee I can say that the market for this phone just isn’t there. It’s a really great idea that it would be both iden and wimax capable but it won’t be on this handset. Maybe in the future….

Why wont they announce the release date? They have already missed Christmas.(most buy new phones for loved ones) Now they wont say the date they plan on releasing the phone. I can say this is the best thing that has happened to Nextel since the day nextel started. I need a release date, my contract is going to be up with nextel. Wont re-new my contract if this phone isn’t released in time.

    iDENologist says:

Since this phone is going to be the first touch-screen device for Nextel, I hope they could upgrade the data speed to WIMAX 4G. I think iDEN is compatible with this new technology, but it all depends on Sprint investing on the iDEN network . I have read some forums where these guys discuss about this topic whether Nextel might implement this WIMAX 4G into future iDEN devices or not…

I had the i930, then the i880 and when my contract ends on aug 2010 if this phone isn’t out yet, i will know for sure nextel will be lost forever.

This could be nextel’s biggest come back ever. just one thing you guys nextel…. push talk + 4g and you’ll steal so many subscribers from all your competitors!!! and I can help you do this for a free opus one phone :)

This is a wonderful phone for boost mobile. Being a boost customer i can tell you tht they have been stepping their game up. I have had a few phones including the i465 and, the device i have now, the incognito. Their service seems to be getting better and better to me. Boost is going to make a killing when this phone comes out. People are looking at this phone and judging it because of the OS. But, is it me or is the OS’s being upraded every week now? lol. im almost positive that this phone is going to get an upgrade or two, maybe three. I feel like ppl should let boost get their feet wet with this android, so they can know what to work on for their nxt. I also see tht ppl are stuck on the fact tht its an iDEN device, ummm… SO WHAT!? iDEN is better than CDMA in some(alot of) areas.
