XPERIA X10 visits the FCC, gifts them with its operating manual

se-xperia-x10-fcc

Ordinarily, looking at FCC filings are about as fun as discussing the history of blotting paper, but we have a rare exception in the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10. While the standard fare external pictures offer nothing we haven’t already seen, the filing contains a wealth of teardown photos that are sure to please both phone junkies and anyone fascinated with design. But it gets better. Not only do we have a slew of test reports (exciting!), but the entire 40-page user manual which not only gives a great overview of the device itself, but Sony Ericsson’s custom Android overlay, Nexus. Of course we’ve already broken down Nexus for you when we went hands on, but let’s just keep that our little secret, okay?

    X10 vs HTC HD2? I just want to know how long do I need to wait to get any of these phones in my hands.

    X10 vs. HD2 is an uneven match, Android > WinMo.
    But X10 vs. HTC Bravo vs. Nexus One, well that’s some interesting Android showdown coming up.

    Nexus one or X10?!

    X10 – pros
    * bigger screen at 4″
    * probably better camera
    X10 – cons
    * it comes with android 1.6 but will get update later
    * sony is horrible about upgrading their phone software

    Nexus one – pros
    * It’ll be a google experience so it will always have the latest software and features
    * it comes with android 2.1
    Nexus one – cons
    * smaller screen at 3.7″
    * do we really need the scrollball????

    Yeah, but this thing is gonna be $1,100 US. Is it worth it when the Google Phone is coming out in a similar form factor for half the price!?!?

    This device is truly something else and I would LOVE to own one. But you know SE is gonna price it $ 699 or more and it will be an EPIC FAIL just like it’s older brother.
    The X10 is sexy as hell but with the Nexus One having the same specs for half the price or more, why go X10?

    I wanted to like this phone when I first heard about it, but it’s turning into a big joke…early prices put it close to a house payment (I know it will get reduced somewhat but it’s way overpriced in any event). the killer for me…I read the first page of the owner manual: phone will not charge unless it is turned on, when using the touchscreen, you can scroll-but it specifically states that “dragging” or “flicking” will have no effect…huh? Looks great, but I think the feature set is already out of date and will be more so by the time it is released..
