The HTC Legend: we want it now
We admit it — we’re the most vain group of smartphone lovers on the planet. A phone can have mind boggling specs and every feature we’ve ever dreamed of, but unless it has some sex appeal, the odds of us ever rocking it in public are slim to none. A lot of times when a handset’s specs leak out we get really excited only to have our hopes quashed by a hideously ugly design. With the HTC Legend, we saw some amazing specs but a picture that left us, well, a little unmoved. The very same styling queues that made the original HTC Hero so sexy seemed now to look so forced, so lifeless. But all of a sudden we have a higher quality render to judge look at thanks to ai.rs blog and we have to admit our interest in the device has skyrocketed. In our review of the Hero, we ultimately concluded that the more we played with the Hero, the more we longed for the Magic/myTouch 3G because they simply worked. But now that the Hero has been beefed up with a speedier processor, given a gorgeous facelift with a sexy AMOLED display and metal chasis to boot, ditched the trackball and, perhaps more importantly for some, been blessed with an honest to goodness flash for the camera, all of the complains that we had about the original Hero look to have been hunted down and wiped out. We can’t help but think how sweet it would be to be able to hibernate through winter so that March comes that much sooner.

Who the hell really talks & surfs @ the same time?! Then obviously its not that important of a call!

probably people who are looking for things to do that night with their friends/S.O. Or maybe looking something up for someone who’s in a jam. Or maybe needing to confirm some information they forgot while on the phone with a rep…I’m sure if you activate a couple action potentials you’ll think of some other examples.

I can’t tell you how many times I have been talking to some one and needed to know about a product, location, or fact. It is great to be able to google it on my 3GS and give them an answer without having to hang up and call back

one time it was an issue for me. But then I remembered I don’t leave home without my netbook and real internet > “real” internet.
And… how the hell can you talk and surf at the same time WHEN YOUR CALLS ARE ALWAYS GETTING DROPPER?????

What the hell is going on at the bottom of that phone. Hopefully that’s some sort of sick joke?
I’m not a fan of the “chin” on some of these HTC devices, but everything else is teh win! Maybe this will be the next BGR give-away.
its an artist rendition, not even the real thing…

I always liked the chin. Seams to me to be a good way to protect the screen if you drop the phone
“A Hero aint nuthin but a sandwich and a Legend aint nuthin but a car”
Didn’t they stop making Legends back in 1996 when the 3.5 RL came out? Just saying… Phone’s hot. I’m on Sprint, but if it comes to the US and we get it, I’ll drop my current Hero and get this, or I’ll drop Sprint and go to Verizon if they get it. If it’s GSM, fuck it. I’d rather not have a cell phone if in order to get it I’d have to go to T-Mobile or AT&T.
If you awesome folk here at BGR feel like giving one of these bad boys away, look at me! I’ll take it any day!
Actually, I love the trackball. I now can’t imagine living without the nice one on my Sprint Hero.
Looks pretty nice – if only it were real . i want one!
Sorry, and I know my comment is going to be downranked several times, but that is one ugly phone, IMO.
I agree with you Megatron. These VZW && AT&T fan fags are getting totally beside themselves. Where I live, go to school, work, && vacation Sprint has excellent coverage && zero dropped calls. Throw in the fact that I have two smartphones && pay 50 a month for both with unlimited everything plus insurance is perfect for me. I’m sure Verizon && AT&T are nice for some, but Sprint is what works for ME. Great coverage, nice phones, excellent rate plans. Simple.
Sprint has the best pricing by FAR… no problems with dropped calls, coverage, or customer service. Now if they could just bring us a decent phone or two…

I really want one.
Nice looking … But white and green? Come on, charcoal, dark gray, or black.. anything else looks cheesy and cheap.
I do like it! I wish it had at least a 3.5′ screen or larger though. That would make this a beautiful phone!
I think I like it. Not nearly as gay as the fruitfone.
What a pretty nice cellphone, I really want to get one!
I don’t think it’s ugly, but I’m not exactly seeing the aesthetic appeal to this… looks basically like a slimmer G1 with no trackball or QWERTY.
In the words of Lord Farquaad: What’s that? It’s hideous.
Yeah yeah.. it looks nice, until you realize theres no damned keyboard! Is it REALLY going to be a ’specialty item’ ?? Seems more like the manufactures of these handsets are the biggest apple ‘fanboys’ of them all. DESPERATELY trying to compete in the identical field. What’s next? Forgetting to place cut and paste in successive iterations? Single-tasking only? Its not like a keyboard makes it [that] much thicker.. and right now, on Tmo, over the course of 14 months… there’s been but ONE handset with a physical keyboard.
I have this phone; wouldn’t trade it for anything else. (other than a N1)
