Verizon bound and Wi-Fi toting Pixi clears the FCC
The Palm Pixi as we know it has a number of shortcomings, the most notable and lamented is its lack of Wi-Fi. Left out in order to keep the devices profit margins as high as possible, the decision was about as well received as the handset itself. Of course after a software update or two the Pixi is now performing more or less as it should, but nothing can be done at all to address the lack of Wi-Fi. That is, of course, unless you are Verizon. It might strike many as odd to think Verizon could improve a smartphone as offered by others by adding in Wi-Fi, but that’s exactly what the company looks to be doing thanks to a new FCC filing. To feature nothing more and nothing less than the Sprint Pixi apart from the addition of Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, the Verizon Pixi has no set release date as far as we can tell, but we wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Verizon roll out the device with its bigger brother on the very same day.

I hope Verizon makes the pixi faster than the sprint version. But the wifi is a very good addition. WebOS is the best mobile OS on the market but receives no attention.

Sucks that Palm decided to call this phone the “Pixi”. With a name like that, it has very little appeal to dudes.

If it ran Android, I’d definitely be standing in line.
Now that Android 2.1 appears to have the cards homescreen thing, can we assume that the best bits of webos will be absorbed by everything else?

Its all about the Droid man!! I love my droid. I tried to marry it online but my mom said that people wouldnt like it.
Both Pre and Pixi are coming out next month for Verizon. There is rumor going around saying that they may be coming out the same time.
why does anyone even care about t his? WebOS seems promising but as long as it’s on the crappy Palm hardware it’s destined to fail. Give me WebOS on HTC or Motorola hardware and I’ll at least be interested to take a look.
Or better yet LG hardware.

Hi Steel, I have seen your posts before and thanks for this post…So if I have the samsung moment on sprint and they get 2.1 the first of the year as promised, that means I will have the card view on my phone just like on the PRE???
