Verizon wants Sprint to pull network claim advertisments, oh irony
Okay, lets see if we’ve got this straight. It is okay to build an entire ad campaign that has the lone purpose of undermining a specific rivals 3G network, but when a third company says it has, “America’s most dependable 3G network” it offends your delicate constitution? Verizon Wireless has “suggested” to advertising watchdog, The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, that Sprint’s advertisement slogan, and claims of dependability, should be challenged in court — Verizon is citing the results of a specific Nielsen Co. test showing Verizon had fewer dropped/blocked calls. For some odd reason the Bureau has obliged Verizon’s wishes and asked Sprint to stop airing the ads in question. Sprint has stated that it believes more than one set of test results should be examined to rule out various factors and will file an appeal with the National Advertising Review Board. We’re glad to see three of the major U.S. carriers are spending their money in court instead of on their networks.

So sad. I work for one of these said court loving companies. I just cant believe my company paid Luke Wilson to star in a commercial, rather than use that money to upgrade their network. What a waste.
Didn’t BGR do a report that Sprint had the most reliable speeds on their 3G network than any other carrier?
http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2009/08/21/carrier-wars-t-mobile-results-wrap-up/
Average Download Speed:
1. Sprint: 1361kbs
2. AT&T: 933kbps
3. T-Mobile: 786kbps
4. Verizon: 701kbps
So Epic Fail to Verizon.

……and when Terrible Mobile is above Verizon on a test, and Verizon has the nerve to go this hard on an ad campaign…. Jeeze.
Why should we care? The carriers can take each other to court all they want. It doesn’t affect me one way or the other. They are all full of it anyway.
Where i live in south Louisiana sprint doesn’t have 3G, Try surfing on 1X mode. That’s why i’m happily with Verizon.
Where at? I live in Covington. Have AT&T and always have 3G.
@Chachtastic, you work for the company? yet have no idea about the 38 billion att has invested in it’s network the last 3 yrs. come on man! you should apply at sprint they could use more of you.

@latinjersey
38 billion and they still have less 3g than Verizon by far. Interesting. While they roll out HSPA verizon will be rolling out LTE. At&t without the iPhone = fail. (which will happen btw)
Actually at&t will be rolling out LTE, not HSPA+. This change happened over the summer.
Wow, all the fan boys on here gets kind of stupid sometimes, you can defend your network when they provide a service comparable to a developed nation, otherwise STFU… What’s that, they Might get LTE or Wimax out next year? then talk next year until then all of the US carriers blow. Nope, It doesn’t matter that you have GSM and can use your phone anywhere, (odds are your particular phone won’t anyhow). I couldn’t care less that you have coverage all over the US at 1/20th the speed our Canadian neighbours get. Your US carrier sucks, I don’t even have to ask which group of dipshits you pay.
Verizon needs to cut their crap, they do run plenty of false advertising so they need to shut the hell up. Their all red 3g map is BS, a lot of that area in red that they’re claiming is “3g” runs at dial up speeds. And secondly, I recall a fairly recent Verizon ad said “the best value in wireless” ?!?!?! I don’t know about anyone else but in my opinion most expensive does not equal best value.

@MillaTime021, att already has hspa in some markets, verizon has zero lte as of now. the iPhone ain’t going anywhere till 2012 plus when it does it will still have a partnership with att and lte.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Bashing someone for defending Verizon by defending AT&T?
Before the iPhone, AT&T was the largest carrier only because Cingular bought the old AT&T Wireless in 2004/2005. There’s no national carrier who hasn’t consolidated with another one in the past or present, the whole “your lame carrier only got where they are is because they bought so-and-so, LOL” argument really needs to die.
Several other people here are right, the defense of a corporate entity is silly. I won’t be doing that again
Do your research, evaluate your choices, and go with what works best for you personally.
well att and cingular have gone back and fourth in buying each other changing the name back and fourth and finally to the new att, in the end they have been the same company all along basically.
You’re an even bigger moron. First, learn to type coherently. Secondly, congrats on the 2 markets being tested – Sprint is still destroying U.S. carriers in the 4G race.
And learn your facts before you spout off stupid things – They prove that they have more 3G than AT&T. They’re still the most expensive, and much slower than the other carriers.
Titan,
You idiot. All you are posting is the speeds, not reliability. There is a HUGE difference in the amt of dropped calls, and the download speeds. Wow, you are dumb

a simple google search shows you that every quarter this year verizon has not gained as many subs as AT&T and verizons churn is up from were it has been all year. I’m not an AT&T kool-aid drinker but facts are facts.
The difference is Verizon is telling the truth about AT&T’s network. I believe AT&T knew it wouldn’t get anywhere in their lawsuit but just wanted some “free publicity”. Verizon does have the best network. I work for Motorola on networks (not the phones) and I’ve worked with Sprint and Verizon. Verizon is hands down better. I am a bit surprised, as are others, that AT&T is not spending money making their network better. I don’t see any hypocrisy in Verizon asking Sprint to back off on their claims of most reliable. That is a valid point of contention. The fact that Verizon has a bigger 3G network than AT&T is not debatable.
I’m from NYC new york, Literally Sprint is the most dependable in NYC, i have also used a Verizon phone out of curiosity and let me say that, Verizon needs to spend more money on their network instead of idiotic battles with other carriers… SERIOUSLY
