RIM releases BlackBerry Media Sync 3.0
For us to say that RIM has a good track record when it comes to pushing out desktop software would be something of a lie, but over the past few months things have gotten steadily better (it was only two months ago BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac was finally released). The latest software to be released is an update to BlackBerry Media Sync. Now in its third incarnation, BlackBerry Media Sync 3.0 doesn’t exactly offer much in the way of new features save for one thing that should have been included all along: 2-way synching of photos for PC users. Here’s what else has changed:
PC to BlackBerry sync:
• Add folders for syncing with option to optimize pictures for device
• Smart memory management: optimizes photo size, allowing for storage of more pictures on device
BlackBerry to PC Import:
• Media Sync alerts users when new pictures are available to import when device is connected to PC (via pop-up on the pictures tab)Highlights of Music sync with BlackBerry Media Sync:
• Sync Options include specific playlists or random music
• iTunes & Windows Media Player compatible
• Supports all media capable BlackBerry smartphones
We’ve been messing around with an advanced copy of the software for the past few days and have only two bite-sized thoughts to share: syncing pictures is incredibly slow, but everything else is noticeably faster.
Want to grab the update? BlackBerry Media Sync 3.0 will be available today at noon EST from www.blackberry.com/mediasync. Just make sure that you’re running Windows XP SP2 or OS X 10.5.5 or later.

Yes it …rocks .… me & my BOLd 9000 …

NICE! Thanks BGR for always getting the scoop and serving it fresh to your followers.
Does anyone know if this syncs itunes podcasts (and whether it keeps tracks of the last played position like itunes does with an ipod?)
For every 1 software update RIM pushes out, they release 5 new devices.
When will RIM release handheld OS 5.0 for bold? Can’t wait….!!!
Works great! RIMM might be the fastest out of the blocks but they do manage to get it right (ok well most of the time anyway). Don’t forget the $50 discount this weekend at T-M on the 3G 9700 and then sync all your stuff BB Media Sync 3.0
Never had a BB so not even tried 2.0.I ll inform my friend abt this he will use in his 8900.
Just watch all your media get deleted from this software in a couple days.
i updated and immediately lost my data from the phone and now my computer won’t recognize the phone anymore? lame
and media sync doesn’t work, sucks…
Futurama FTW!
cool
Got a new BB 9700 from att ($100 mail n rebate) n loving it. 9ant wait to give this a try.
BlackBerry Media Sync also syncs playlists and random music lists, works with iTunes and Windows Media Player, and works with any recent, media-capable BlackBerry smartphone.
Boring. Keyboards ate so 2003!
Get with the time rim. !
Oh n no proximity sensor weak. No 3.5″ screen fail.

Hmm. I always considered iPhones to be BlackBerry wannabees, only without decent keyboards. Guess it depends on your perspective.
Trying to download Media Manager Via Blackberry Desktop Manager and its a whopping 133MB!!!! and keeps dropping at 133MB then I have to start over.. HORRIBLE SOFTWARE!!!!! Thinking about going back to HTC
Hi there,
Does anyone know how to roll back the installation of Media Sync 3.0 to 2.0??? It appears that it requires a version of Itunes I don’t want to upgrade to, but of course, didn’t spell that out before asking to install. Thx
i updated and now the phone and computer don’t “see” each other, lame
how do i go back? or how does RIM get it right? i have the crappy first storm…
