I guess I almost turned into a BBWhore myself and fell for the esthetics. It sure is a swanky looking phone though – got distracted by the looks and forgot about the OS and actually using the damn thing. Too bad…nice keyboard, nice looks, nice size, nice battery life…ya, knew that trend wouldn’t last.

If you are complaining about the loss of 1/8″ of screen width and about the same for keyboard space, that’s pretty whiny, and as far as the memory goes, it comes with a 2GB card, upgradable to 32GB.

However, I agree the app space is pretty small, but you can actually get apps to let you use your SD card inside as app space (not tested, but investigated in App World.) The browser also could use help though, as it doesn’t allow full webpage views on some sites, but that’s probably just something to be tweaked…

It is huge case for such a small phone, and the fact that the belt clip isn’t removable is brutal.

You do NOT have to wait till SUnday. My local AT&T company store in Jacksonville had them in stock and they scanned at the register so my store sold me one. I hear other stores are doing the same so the 22nd is kinda a soft date. Call your local company store and see what happens

How much better is this unit? How the browsing going to be on the this 9700. I’m with ATT right now, I’ve tested the PalmPre, next in line is the Verizon Droid, as of now I dont see myself giving up my BB. I think its a good phone, I wish the browsing was much better, over all its not bad.

This is true in a lot of rural areas as well. When I had a blackberry i never dropped calls and always had really good reception where I live, but as soon as I got the 3Gs that all went away. Im not getting good reception in the same areas and frequently drop calls…Im making that move to the 9700 as well, iPhone is fun but not a true phone….

fact of the matter is i’ve had the 7290,8700,8310, and 9000 and all were major (not slight) improvements over the last. cant say that about the 9000-9700

Thanks. it was, but it’s also an OLD SIM card – froma prior blackberry. Think taht may be part of the problem? As for the “W” key, well, I think I’ll have one of the first warranty replacement 9700s!

@A seems like alot of people in the major cities are going away from the iPhone because it’s a better phone for calls. People are reporting better signal in NY and SF so business people, that make as many phone calls as they do email checking are able to do more of both.

Weird how the blackberrys have better reception in these cities. I have a 3G[S] and I live east of. SF and I never have call issues. 2394k down and 265k up. It’s good to me.

Question for 9700 owners, doesn’t OS 5.0.0.344 come pre-installed in the new phone from either TM or AT&T? A bit confused about that. I read above several users upgrading the OS. Thanks.

I got my 9700 yesterday and i HATE the case that comes with it. so if you actually get the Seidio case with it, it fits PERFECTLY into your older bold case. Which to me was amazing. The keyboard is smaller and does take getting used too, but it’s amazing.

I posted before about the 9700 I got this past Monday in NH (tax free, me likey) and how it would default to 2g and not use 3g even though it was available. I upgraded the OS to 5.0.0.344 and voila! Its now using 3g. Hopefully this info will help someone who is experiencing the same problem as I was PISSED and ready to return it and go back to 8900 trackball land.
