AT&T launching white BlackBerry 8900?

curve-8900-white

One of our connects just hit us up with this shot, and it would appear that RIM has a theme going on. Step 1: make successful handset in black, step 2: relaunch said handset in white. Almost a month after the vastly popular vanilla BlackBerry Bold hit the streets, AT&T and RIM are teaming up to bring you the WhiteBerry Curve 8900 sans color, or is it the presence of all the colors? Whatever. Now, the 8900 won’t have the sensual white leather back, but the white bezel looks pretty sexy to us; as a group that enjoys simultaneously eating Cheetos and text messaging we can’t say that we’re too upset about the omission of the white keyboard either. So what do you think? Is this the BlackBerry you’ve been waiting for? Actually, scratch that, this thing is already outdated. This is the BlackBerry you’ve been waiting for.

Thanks, Gabe Jr.!

That looks just like the same silver bezel it has now. Probably just a crappy picture.

The service isn’t bad. And white? I like my black 8900 that I’m currently using and my black bold that I have as a back up.

I have both of these phones as well (Curve is personal, Bold is work hooked up to BES). AT&T’s 3G is super spotty, even in a metro area. I drop it quite often at my house (I live in the middle of Pittsburgh!) but at least their edge service is okay.

The 9000 looks fine in white but Im not digging the 8900 in white.

At least they didnt put white leather on the back of it. That would have been dirty and stained in less than a week.

White phones don’t work, never have. VZW had one and it’s ugly. AT&T/RIM should have picked puke green or yellow piss for the color instead…the phone would sell a lot better.

okay, Verizon and Sprint have “new” phones running Android, and all AT&T can come out with as “new” is a white 8900 and the 9000 Bold in white. Way to go AT&T, RIM puts a dress on a pig and AT&T calls it new. A pig is a pig no matter what you put on it, now not that BlackBerry is a pig, just my two cents, and in today’s world that won’t even buy a cheap cup of coffee.

This is bullshit. I know it’s “news” sort of and I know bgr ought to report it but wtf?? Rim or AT&T had backlogs of this thing and thought if they put some stupid trim on it they could sell a bunch? And like dude above said, the keyboard is still black, so…

Who is going to buy this?

I agree with other dude who said just release the 9700 already.

At this point aesthetics are not much of an issue. It’s the guts of the device that matter.
