Nice phone, I like HTC along with Motorola. Both build great smart phones that last. But, no pull out keyboard.
some people like onscreen, but with bigger hands, onscreen causes more mistakes.

I did a side by side with my buddies Hero from SPRINT and the GUI is snappier on the Eric. Everything from scrolling to typing – just more responsive.

When I purchased my Droid from Best Buy, they rang it up as $149 and it says price match. I just said thanks and didn’t ask any questions. I guess that’s why they did this.

I played with both phones today.

1. Moto is heavy as heck. I can’t imagine carrying it in my pocket for any length of time.
2. Moto camera sucked compared to the Eris. Eris to me took better pictures.
3. Eris is light as heck. Very comfortable to carry and hold
4. Eris is fast. The moto was sluggish and to me. The senseUI on the HTC was really fast. All the touch things I did was smooth and fast.
5. Keyboards… Moto keyboard imho sucked, but so did the Eris virtual keyboard.
6. Moto screen rocked. It was very very clear and the higher resolution was nice. The Eris screen was nice but the moto resolution owned the Eris.

Overall if I had to get one right now… Eris hands down. Just felt like a nicer phone and was comfortable and light weight. The moto is heavy… really really heavy. If you are one to keep your phone in your pocket, I dont think you are going to like the heftiness of the moto droid.

I really like the exterior design. IMO by far the best looking HERO. Knowing my next phone has to last me 2 years its the only ‘adequate’ cpu that keeps me from hopping on this device. Hopefully the HTC Passion gets released soon too as it may be the one for me.

This may be old news, but Walmart.com is selling the droid for $150, bought mine from Bestbuy but got them to price match. Just wanted to let everyone know there is no reason to pay over $150 for your new droid.

I believe htc is trying to get Sense to work on Android 2.0. When that happens, the Passion will most likely come out. I’d hate to think they’ll release Passion w/o Sense.

I was all for the Droid until last night when I saw a overview on this phone. Then I was torn between the two, and now I’m leaning towards this. But I don’t have a upgrade until December 23, So I am getting a phone for Christmas. My question is, will the “Passion” have the same interface has this phone? With the 7 home screens, and basically everything on this phone? I know HTC makes both, but not sure how they do all their phones. Because if it does, and has 2.0, I’ll definitely get that.

Ronnie, I don’t care if what you are saying is true or not, and I’m willing to concede that it is true – not that I ever denied it. It’s just that it simply doesn’t matter.

And I’m not trying to be arguementative, but you were digging at companies for “copying” Apple’s packaging techniques. Let me ask you this: was Apple the first company to package a product attractively in order to attract customers? Nope. You know what they say, “Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery”. And every company since the very first company to box something up has been doing it.

It’s a reworked HTC Hero. The impressive thing about it is that it’s only $99 w/ a 2 yr contract. Very decent phone for a good. That said, I’m still waiting for a better spec’d phone to come out that doesn’t have a phys keyboard.
