Rumors are flying around the intertubes that Best Buy Mobile and Walmart are willing and ready to sell you your new Motorola DROID a day early. Grab your keys, hop in your mom’s 1986 Honda Civic, and go get em’ tiger. I’m pretty excited to see the Apple vs Droid competition heat up. I want to see sales reports when Apple releases the 8GB 3G S for $99 (which they are for sure) and drop the 3G to $49.
Should be interesting. I like both devices but love competition like this.
Just check at a Walmart Supercenter in Broderick (Sacramento), CA, and no luck. They said yes they would sell it to me on the phone, but then denied me my Droid when I got there. Oh well!
Also checked in with the Best Buy I pre-ordered at, but they said not until tomorrow too.
Compared to Android sales and so forth. The Passion is definitely the Android device to get even with all the marketing going into the Moto.
oh man, I preordered mine and am picking it up as soon as I can tomorrow, and I used one at the Verizon store today, and let me say, omg, this phone is amazing, the screen especially blew me away, the size, resolution, and sensitivity were unrivaled, I cant wait to get my hands on it
P.S. the keyboard wasnt all that bad, I actually sorta liked it
P.S.S. Its hella sleek, amazingly skinny, and I think it looks absolutely amazing, anyone who thinks its fugly after you physically hold it in your hands need an eye exam

my order went thru on the verizon page. YAY!!! now jsut gotta wait for it to show up on mondayor tuesday. At first my order was not going thru but then POOF!! it did
Order was confirmed on VZW site. Free overnight shipping of course. Order process was very slow to the point of being BOGGED down. Took 2 mins between some pages of the order process.
Also forgot to mention. In CA we pay the full tax on the retails value which is $559.99. CA Sales Tax is 54.60.Have to pay the salary of the Governator right?!
Finally it showed up for upgrading.
I wanted to get the home dock (had 25% off), but they only listed the car dock.
So what are some first impressions of the phone, from people that have it already?
Did they do anything with the 2 keys that had nothing on them?
Did it come with that charger??

WOOOOHOOOO!!!! gave up ordering online, bought it in the store at 7:00 this morning. Although now i’m at work and have zero attention span! it’s a freaking sweet phone. although it messed my contacts up from my GMAIL account so i had to fix a few. One thing that i dont think BGR mentioned is that to answer a call you have some weird slide lock to actually answer or ignore the call instead of just pushing a button. Not bad though, so i’ve messed with it for like 30 minutes and LOVE IT….so far. lol
Ordered mine midnight EST over the phone with my employee discount, also got an instant rebate and they even threw in free Saturday delivery as a birthday present to me. Should be arriving some time Saturday. Can’t wait

a couple hundred mb for apps = a ton of apps dude. hahaha. Most apps are under 1MB, some half that.
Let me know when the day comes that you need space for 700 apps instead of 500.
So its judgment day today for Droid, was it? According to Cnet it was a little bit slow nonetheless a good start of droid, other “critiques” says otherwise. But I say, “Hell yeah! droid conquered US for a couple of hours today”. We just hope that their ROI is profitable compare to the hunderds of thousand worth of ads they spend during the promotion period and err.. did I say, their impending “lawsuit” with AT&T too?

I tried out the Droid today at my local Verizon store, and was disappointed. The interface was, to be blunt, ugly, compare to the iPhone. It honestly looked worse than many recent Windows Mobile devices I’ve seen… and that’s not a good thing.
The phone’s response seemed slower than the 3GS, and scrolling down a webpage would jerky, vs. the fluid 3GS.
Also, CNN.com videos would not load via the browser. I tried three different phones, and neither I, nor the staff could get it to play any videos from CNN.com.
From what I’ve read & seen, the launch of the Droid is nothing like the launch of a new iPhone, which usually jams Apple/AT&T retail stores. Most Verizon stores seem to be seeing a minor uptick in traffic, if any.
I love my Droid im coming from a Windows Mobile phone and I have Horrible Battery Life. I just learned that you can turn off apps and that the phone has Multi touch .. So exciting lol I made a video showing everyone how to do it also if your interested .. Hope it helps some people out
