HTC’s HD2 now shipping in Europe and Asia, confirmed for the U.S. in 2010

htc-hd2

Our readers in both Europe and Asia have reason to smile this morning, as HTC has at long last announced that the highly anticipated successor to the Touch HD has finally begun shipping. Citizens in Europeans will be able to pick up the HD2 in the next few days while our Asian brothers and sisters will see a gradual rollout staring in a weeks time. As for the majority of our readers, Americans, HTC has formally confirmed what we reported one month ago when the device was first announced — the HD2 will be making its way to “a major US carrier” in early 2010. The only mystery is which carrier could HTC possibly be referring to. Hmm…

    Wow,I’m shocked that there is a post that has nothing to do with Droid.

    If the HD2 was capacative touch then I would get it over iphone gen 4.

    T-Mobile is a major carrier? Who knew with the crap coverage along with using the ability to actually make a phone call.

    I’m glad to see HTC use some better hardware for a WinMo device and clean them up a bit. The sense UI is really quite something to look at and does WinMo some justice. And now with a capacitive touchscreen, it’s safe to say…GAME ON!!

    I don’t understand why everyone hates WinMo so much. I’ve used Pocket PC’s for years with very few issues, later played with OS X for a few months, then Andriod a few weeks, and I now use Symbian everyday. I actually miss my WinMo phones. Just like every OS, it has it’s place. And like it or not, it’s very versatile. And if it wasn’t for MS, Andriod and OS X platform would have a pretty weak email client. And a true “smartphone” should include features that you shouldn’t have to pay for or buy apps for as standard out-of-the-box.

    WinMo = true smartphone

    T-Mobile?? ARGGHH!!! I had my sights on this one so I could ditch my disappointing N97, but I need the ATT freqs version. Unlocked is fine, in fact it’s worth the price premium. Just make it available.

    I was SOOO close to ordering this, but instead opted for the Hero on the grounds of nearly everything I’d read said WinMo was poor and Android was on it’s way to be a top OS.

    Hope I didn’t move to prematurely, because everything I saw on this was spectacular.

    I hate to say this, but had HD2 been on Android, the eternal battle (iPhone vs. everyone/thing else) might have been coming to an end.

    Still think this will be an amazing phone, but like all, totally dependent on personal tastes, which is something most posts seem to miss: I might not want iphone due to corporate control, but then android is not as polished because it’s open source. Does that make me a bad person. No, it just makes me a person who’s different from the person reading this.

    PLEASE stop the hating. Yes the debate is an interesting one because the iphone did change a heck of a lot in the phone world, but not everyone will want it.

    I believe this what they call the spice of life….variety.

    This is a device that has gotten me very excited. I am curious about the screen size. I like big touchscreens, but there us a such thing as too big and I am wondering if this will be too big or just amazing. I wantto see how well the capacitive screen works. I have yet to see one that is as responsive as the iPhone. Also, I would like to see how WinMo performs outside if the homescreen the homescreen in HTC devices can wow you, but my experience has been that navigating away from the homescreen reveals the same WinMo OS that people love to hate. If it is truly a makeover like I’m hoping, it should be great! I actually like the Sense UI on the WinMo better than the Android Sense. I hope it is everything we are hoping for. The iPhone needs some real competition.

    Great news so finally HTC is coming to Asia, long wait is over now. HTC best thing is it Android OS which is much better then windows and symbian operating system. Good to see that few good apps like Facebook, twitter, vopium and skype support these HTC devices.
