i think this phone supports both band…umts/hspda
for t.com and at&t
so i guess it just suitable for everybody the question is..is it worth the wait or just turn out sluggy and too damn slow…like all other ericsson’s products..
and i heard that the touch screen is non rotatable…i hope they fix it with the final version with the new os 2.0 android…

@MoB: yes, the phone IS sick… I agree. But it’s Sony Ericsson which means a good piece of hardware that will be marketed and supported poorly.

Go back and read… no one is down on the device, they are down on stupid Sony and how long its going to take.

I guess you all forgot about the X1 already. A phone that took nearly a year to come out with… included T-mo 3G frequencies even… and then was sold unsubsidized for $1,000.

This is why everyone is skeptical.

My thing is: Between this and the HD2. Who will come out for T-mo and who will come out first? Then you’ll know which will be my next phone.

Capacitive Screen again?? FAIL!!! when are these people understand that, the responsiveness/easy to use software and screen quality/functionality is some of very important features in a phone. I don’t need a 10 MP or 8 MP camera on the phone if the screen is crap or the software is annoyingly leggy i’m happy with a good 5 Mp, just give the device a better screen and better functionality

Just checked out the hands-on live action video on you tube. Right now it looks slow. Nothing like the video above. The HTC HD2 is extremely smooth (iPhone killer smooth…. if that’s all you want) so hopefully with some more software developement over the coming 2-5 months things will improve which I’m sure they will.

It shows a video of a swede playing a 3D game on the X10 which utilizes the accelerometer, it’s decent. Personally I just want a multi-tasking OS with a decent GUI interface and a fast processor with some 3d graphic capabilities for fun… this thing could do it. Plus look at that damn camera and it’s got office suite (I assume that means word, excel and ppt) which is key and it’s got like nine things with GOOGLE in the name! four of them are searching applications… cou-one trick-gh cou-pony-ugh…. I kid.

I love this phone and want one RIGHT NOW! BUT… if releasing on Q1 and possible getting to the US like in the middle of next year… is not an option. Unless I can buy it oversees and activate here with t-mobile or something like that. I’m a bit disappointed that they using Android 1.6 and not 2.0. Also it doesn’t seem to support multi-touch but for the future pack this phone have… I can overlook the lack of multi-touch. For now I have a HTC Hero that I love but would rather have the HTC Passion or this sick Sony X10 that is wonderful.

First time to see Sony-ericcson all “balls-deep” on a new smartphone in particular an android phone? We agree, that Xperia has a bitter history on older models. Hopefully, this X10 release will turned out to be a happy-ending. But still, this phone has a far way to go on competing the iPhone kind or the Killer-Droid

One question, did every website get there information from the same crappy source? because the HSPA bands are different:

it states: UMTS/HSPA 800/850/1900/2100

Which would mean that an unlocked version would be compatible with almost every network out there. It’s the FIRST phone that I’ve found with a snapdragon processor and capable of using this crappy North American 850/1900 network.

Telus, you will soon have a happy customer and HTC wtf man, I’ve been betting you would be the one… you disappointed me…

I was thinking the same thing. They used to do that back with their older smartphones. Slow software updates. Firmware capabilities behind everyone else. Phones overpriced for their release dates. Slow and laggy. And lack of US band support. And an overall support life span of not much more than a year after purchase. You need to be a serious fanboi to be willing to tuff it out.

I’ve always loved their handsets but, have not bought one because of this.

Android 1.6? In the first half of 2010?

What a waste. They’re going to spend their time perfecting Rachael in Android 1.6, and then take months to adapt it to 2.0, and U.S. carriers will take their time providing the update.

So the Experia X10 with Android 2.0 in June or July at the earliest? The word I’m thinking of starts with an “f” and ends with an “ail.”

This is the first time I’ve seen a reference to T-Mobile. Would the device need to support 1700MHz to operate on T-Mobile in the US? I haven’t seen this frequency mentioned anywhere yet.

I’ve learned to not get excited about any new device announcements:

1) We won’t get it for at least 6 months.
2) AT&T (my preferred carrier) probably won’t carry it.
