Sprint Q3 results still reflect hard times for number three provider
Sprint seems to keep bleeding, keep, keep, bleeding subscribers. After losing 801,000 post-paid subscribers, which is slightly better than the 870,000 that analysts expected, Sprint might need to really change its game to do more than just stay afloat. Consequently, Sprint’s losses for the quarter are a whopping $478 million compared to $326 million YoY. Revenue dropped about nine percent to $8.04 billion. Interestingly enough, Sprint’s prepaid service, Boost, added over 600,000 subscribers thanks to Boost’s $50 unlimited plan. But with its Simply Everything packages including Any Mobile, Any Time, and hardware like the Palm Pre and HTC Hero, Sprint could be looking to shrink its quarterly losses in the future and maybe even see some positive gain.

I travel all throughout Minnesota (urban and rural) and rarely experience roaming, so those of you saying that Sprints coverage sucks must be living in BFE.
I’m no longer under contract with Sprint, but I have no desire to migrate to another carrier. Sprint has churned out some decent phones lately, but no carrier’s phones – let me say that again – no carrier’s phones are perfect: ATT – I-phone lacks a non-touchscreen keyboard, its 3.2 megapixel camera, its inability to run simultaneous applications and its closed platform; Verizon – awesome Droid but what is up with the gold trim – ugly and ackward looking; Sprint – a nice looking but under powered Hero. The list goes on.
Finally, Sprint’s plans are already lower than everyone elses, and you can even get discounted billing through the Everything Plus Referral Program.
So here is my question to Verizon lovers: why in the world would I pay more to a company that gives me handsets that aren’t perfect (none are), plans that cost more, and the same level of coverage? That just doesn’t make sense.

Blah blah blah.. When is the last time motorola has had a hit phone?? This is entirely relevant to Sprints current financial standing….
Motorola is worse off then Sprint, has everyone forgot that Motorola DEVELOPED IDEN??? They dont have time to engineer advancements for a Dead tech standard…
When Sprint bought Nextel the current phone trends were VGA cams and PTT.. Iden has both of those..
Since then the new trends are slim, touch screen, smartphones and 3G when will iDEN get a phone that has at least two of those features?? They dont even have a true slim phone yet..
iDEN is DEAD.. They barely got the FIRST CURVE.. Isnt the THIRD one about to come out?? Who still chirps?? Little kids dont even think its cool anymore..
Sprint is just feeling the after effects of the ill planned Nextel buyout.. Most of those losses are with Nextel.. I have seen ONE person with a new Nextel phone this year.. And he only bought the fat, old, 2g only curve because he didnt know better.. With its two year head start on LTE and the fact that WiMax is OFDM and can be switched to LTE they will be fine.. Its gonna take quite some time tho
Been on sprint for almost a decade. Network is good…coverage is decent and 3G is among the fastest of the majors.
I have an older family plan…pay abut 170 bucks a month after taxes for 4 phones…one with data. Now they are trying to force me into their everything plan in order to get the newest phones. This would give data to all my phones, but I only need it on one..basically will pay 30 bucks a month for 500 fewer minutes under the new plan. I am not a SERO guy, and understand those might be unsustainable..they make money on me, and if I had the 25% discounts that they give so many corporations I could switch to the new plan and actually save money. So they are signing up new people for the same or less then me because of their discount, but not letting a guy who has been with them buy a Hero or Pre without changing to a much less attractive plan and being treated like anyone who just joined.
Dan Hess is an egomaniac and an idiot…he is killing Sprint and he should be fired. Who punishes their longtime customers and doesn’t try to lock them in for 2 years with a new Pre. The reason Pre sales suck is that most of us can’t get them without switching plans!
I was in the same boat with 3 lines but was offered Mobile To Home on all of them to offset the minute loss and now with AnyMobile Anytime I never come close to my barrier. I agree they should allow mix and match add a line but look at it like this, you’re saving money and now all the lines have access to nav and entertainment
Why does every moron on earth think wireless should be free? You all must be on welfare too!
hahahahaha i love that.
Here is my question.
1 – You spend 399.99 for an iPod
2 – You spend about well over thousands of dollars for a car
3 – Almost (now with apple) two thousands dollars on a laptop.
Here is my question, if your willing to spend money on these items. Why wouldn’t you be willing to pay for your cell phone. The reason why, You are with your phone all the time. Even if your not using it, its right next to you. Most of us sleep with it. I know that sounds silly however not really sleeping with it however it is on our night stand. If your not willing to spend the money for the phone that is the most important tool of your life, then please, SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ya cheep motherfuckers.
