i got 2 droid bb pre orders one for me the other for my wife my wife can take advantage of the 2 year 199 price but not me i have a verizon contract that im considering paying an etf on even if its 175 still cheapoer then paying the full 599 if its possible i told the bb csr i wanted to buy it without contract and activate it later and he kinda seemed like the phone had to be sold activated or with a plan or activated to my number but truthfully i just want to pay my etf get a new 2yr and number because my number i got now gets like 3 wrong number calls a day always the same thing say this house listed im guessing the prior owner was a real estate agent anyways will bb sell me it retail unactivated? if i etf can i re sign the next day for 2 year price?

Yes I too have pre order the phone from best buy, but here the catch they dont know whether they will be able to fill the pre orders that they have, i am third on the list, and the woman told me if they only get 2 phones that i would have to wait, they pre order by selling you a gift card with your deposit and when i said well i want it refunded since i thought my chances will be better at my verizon store at 6 am they said they dont give refunds on gift cards, what a rip off. Best buy sucks, i will never do business with them again.

I just did an online chat I confirmed that they do 30 day returns. That’s good to know.

..and we need new phones as soon as possible, as my wife’s KRZR has finally bit it, so we’re a bit rushed to get a replacement.

The Droid sounds like a great phone, and it sounds like the issues I’ve heard of so far are fixable via software. Spending this much money though, I’m glad to know I can try the phone myself.

Is it possible to return/exchange the phone within 30 days without hassles if purchased through Best Buy like they do in the Verizon stores? I’ve pre-ordered two, and I’m very excited to get them, but hearing some of the concerns with the camera and stuff I’d feel better knowing I have the option just in case.

My girlfriend and I went to BB in Billings,Mt yesterday and pre-ordered two droids. We got her Ne2 discount of $100 and were given our gift cards. The guy worked with us to re-do her contract and we saved some money. Out of the 50 phones they will get we were the numbers 48 and 49. YIPPEE!!! we made an appointment for Friday to pick our phones up and the whole thing took us about 15 minutes total. I recommend these guys.

??? The phone still costs 199.99. So it’s actually 199.99 + 10% = 219.99, whether you have the gift card or not. If you choose to use the gift card on the cost of the phone, then it’s 219.99 – 50 = 189.99 cash paid. If you pay sales tax on a gift card, then you’re paying 194.99 total, and you’re an absolute dummy.

I work at BBY Mobile, and at my store we will match any price, even if it includes a NE2 credit, so in this case yes we would do the droid for 99 bucks if that’s what verizon was going to get it to you for. Our only policy is to have the customer sign in to their verizon account so we can verify that they are eligible for the NE2. Also, the $35 activation fee is not applied through us, it is applied through Verizon and we have no control over that, all we can do is contact our area representative and hope that they are in a good mood and will waive the activation fee for us. Best Buy Mobile is a company to watch out for!!

Im not ATT but VZW and the guy didnt pull up my account. He wrote my name/number down on a “Droid” pre-order form which he filed away. Did the transaction for a 50.00 gift card, wrote on the receipt “Droid Pre Order” handed me the receipt and the gift card.

I talked to several people at Best Buy and a couple at a Verizon store about this. If you have a New Every Two discount coming your way, you definitely should not preorder at Best Buy. I have a $100 credit right now, so my phone will be $99 at Verizon or $199 at Best Buy. Also, if you’re on a business account you can likely get the Verizon store to take care of your rebates for you as well. I will be paying $99 on Friday with no rebates to worry about.

Stopped at Best Buy again this afternoon. Different salesman, but after having to explain what the NE2 is because she didn’t know, she said they wouldn’t match it on pre-orders.

I too pre ordered mine today at BB. I was actually 1st in line which surprised me. I sure hope they dont charge me the 35.00 for activation, This will be my 5th line with VZW and Im assuming they would match their offer of no activation. I’ll pay it but I wont be happy as that is cash I would put towards an accessory.

At Best Buy, sometimes you have to speak to several people before you get the right answer. Apparently, BB does not disseminate information very well to the employees; that or most of the employees couldn’t care less.

I went to Best Buy today and the mobile person first told me that they honor NE2 credits and then she said it was $199 and there were no other discounts. So I’m not sure if she didn’t know what she was saying or what. I thought they did do NE2 credits there, in which case I should only have to pay $99…. Confusing.

I was assured by the Best Buy Mobile manager, the card was definitely refundable. It was a down payment more or less, that is why I payed $3.00 tax. You don’t pay tax on a gift card. If I don’t like it in my hands, I will not buy it.

I ordered mine at Best Buy yesterday. I was the 2nd person on their list, so I am assured one. YES!! The reason I am second, is because the dude that took my order/deposit, said the people working previous shifts since the 29th, knew nothing about it; and turned customers away. My rep is an android guy, like me, so of course he knew all about it. His name was first on the list; and his shift had just started. He gave me a $50 gift card, and a $50 discount; I owe only $100 on the 6th. Since I was into Android/Droid as much as he was, he told me that the phones will probably arrive early, and if so, he call me to let me know.

During the time we spent talking about the phone, android, Google, etc. 4 or more people had appeared, and were rather impatiently waiting for me to shut up. I left, as excited as hell.

This is the first time I’ve ever had anything good to say about best buy. I probably lucked out just by getting someone that actually knew what they were doing, but, everything went very smoothly. They also seem to offer some great insurance plans, even covering theft and loss. Finally I can get rid of my moto Q. I never thought my next phone would be a Motorola……….

If you haven’t already put down on one, you may want to pass. Stores have started to hit the point where they’re not sure they’ll be getting enough units to cover pre-orders (i.e. – Sure they won’t), but have continued to sell them.

The catch – since you’re buying a non-refundable gift card in the pre-order process, you’re stuck waiting a week or more for another shipment, or, stuck with a fifty dollar gift card and still needing to go try and find a Droid elsewhere on launch day.

No matter how you slice it, that’s a bad deal. Hit up a BBY for the instant rebate, but don’t tie up your cash on a long shot.

yes, the VZW stores do work off commission, and if BB employees do not, I will be the next woman to give birth to a fish. LOL.And VZW phone reps DO NOT get commission, only the stores. BB, and others, gives out pricing differently from a corp. store because it is an indirect store and is not bound to corp. pricing policies. This often means that you are not only signing a contract with VERIZON, but with them as well, often having different rules and at times not honoring VZW policies. The VZW store will match online pricing, which gives the MAIL IN REBATE AS AN INSTANT ONE, usually, if you ask. Or wait 2 business days, get free shipping and order it online yourself! I will be the first to agree that the store will tell you things to up their commisson at times. Like the myth that you can add a new line of service to get a new phone, keep the phone you got for cheap, disconnect the line and have no consequenses… READ the contract, the equip and contracts are tied to the phone #, which cannot be changed to another line ( or phone #), esp. one with a current contract and extend it! If it sounds too good to be true, it is!

if you are elig for a ne2 upgrade, you get the phone at the 2 yr contract price, start a new contract. With Verizon, on a 24 month contract, you are able to upgrade to a new phone at 20 months, effectively giving you a 20 month contract. And there are times when you may qualify for an annual upgrade on your phone. If you are not elig, you have the choice to go on E-bay ) or others) and pay more than full retail, or you can pay full retail and have no contract with an open acct.
