I love the concept of the Verizon/Motorola Droid. My only big concern is that it’s NOT a world phone. I was hoping that it would come with a Global SIM Card like the Blackberry’s and the HTC Smart phones that Verizon has. I think that I’ll get the HTC Touch Pro 2.

This is a bad walk through IMHO. Check out the one endgadget has. It shows live traffic, always continuous updated maps, turn by turn directions with voice, street view, satellite view, once you get near your destination it shows you a real photo of the location.

It does not have a single zoom. Once you double tap to get the first zoom, you can the tap the screen to hit the magnifying glass to zoom in more if needed.

@Emily,unfortunately you do not own an iPhone, because then you would understand that the video rec and playback capabilities on 3gs are far superior than any device in the market. Ask the millions of customers who bought one this summer. Or you can wait and ask the millions who will buy one this holiday season.

I feel your pain aron. I’m stuck in a limbo where I can’t use the feature phones because of lack of an adequate calendar and I don’t want to pay monthly data charges for stuff I don’t really need, or want.
I’m using a Q9m which is okay, but I’m still using it after 2yrs because I have my calendar/contact sync from outlook, appointments show on my homescreen, which does not happen on a feature phone. I don’t have to pay for data, and I tried both the Tour and the TouchPro2. Returned both, and still don’t miss the data.
But my phone is definitely on it’s way out. And the Droid is looking mighty appealing (OS, hardware wise. It’s pretty ugly IMO but I don’t care so much about looks and I think it looks better than an iPhone.)

Oh… You posted from your iPhone so I bet you watched it from your iPhone which would explain your confusion because the internet video playback on the iPhone looks terrible.

In the original review done by BGR, they mentioned that the sound quality was amazing. If you look at the spec sheet that was released last week, it confims dual mike noise cancellation.

You have to get your head checked if you get a Storm 2 (read Storm 1 that doesn’t suck quite as bad, they only made the screen more usable) instead of a Droid! If you want a touchscreen, consumer based, iphone alternative you go with the Droid. If you want a business device, you get a Tour or a Bold.

I’ve never had a smartphone. I played around a little with the early ones and realized that the net looked like crap on a phone. Now, I’m going to give this a try. If it works like Verizon claims, this will replace a lot of things for me. Newspapers, books if they get a good eReader app for it and other stuff. Honestly I’m looking forward to never having to keep magazines in the bathroom :-p

Actually, let me clarify what I just posted. I’ve heard rumors that there will be third-party app support in Android 2.0 for iTunes sync now that the SDK has been released to the public and development can begin. Even if the Droid doesn’t syn with iTunes right out of the box, it may very shortly. I have faith.

I just pre-ordered mine at Best Buy! No waiting in lines and i can pick it up on 11/6!! Plus I only have to pay $200 for it because Best Buy doesn’t make you do the $100 mail in rebate! No waiting at verizon for me!!! I am stoked!!
