Verizon’s HTC Desire spotted in the wild, lauching soon
Had enough Android goodness yet? Good, neither have we. While we don’t have many new details on this one we do have an image — and isn’t an image worth 1,000 words after all? This HTC, Verizon branded, touch-screen Android handset has been brought to light (in a very low light setting) by a new connect. All they could provide (other than the pic) was that it was extremely fast, similar in size to Sprint’s Hero, and was sporting the luscious Sense UI.

Extremely fast… Hmmm now I am confused which phone to get. I hope the desire will run 2.0 and has more guts than other hero’s. By the way, no pic after the break.

Almost 100% sure that the Desire will NOT have 2.0. It may be faster than the other HTC Touchscreen Androids that are out right now but I think the Droid will be the only phone with 2.0 this year. You may be able to upgrade the Desire next year sometime though if you don’t mind waiting and like the Desires hardware more than the Droids.
If I were Android, I’d get a restraining order against Boy Genius as he seems to know every move I make!

I don’t care if the Desire doesn’t have 2.0, that upgrade will come in time. All I care about is that it has Sense UI, which it obviously does. Also, a bump in screen size would be nice, but not necessary, and the processor on the Sprint Hero seems reasonable enough for my usage. Here’s hoping that this has an even faster CPU though. Wouldn’t it be nuts if this somehow had the Snapdragon chip in it? Doubtful though.
My sprint Hero is not laggy at all. I would assume that with time and more widgets it would bog down. But all things point at the Sprint Hero/Euro Hero and Verizon “Hero” having the exact same internals. Maybe HTC has massaged the UI a bit more but it is still the 528MHz/288MB
Hmm, so our Hero is the Desire then? I thought it was reported it was called the Hero. Either way Sense UI is sexy.

I’m curious to know the actual skinny on the Desire. Many other sites are claiming it is coming to VZW as a Google experience device. That said it can not have the sense UI on it, but by this pic it does have Sense as the UI.
Any input over here at BGR from the contact as to whether or not it is a Google experience device like Droid?

If somehow Verizon managed to get a Snapdragon in that thing, i’d start watching the sky makin’ sure the planets aren’t aligned, and feel the ground to make sure it doesn’t feel especially cold, cuz it seems like hell’d freeze over before something like that would happen
now I’m really torn between the Droid and the Hero/Desire…guess I’ll have to wait to play with both before making a decision…if 2.0 was on the Hero/Desire right out of the box instead of having to wait, then it would be no contest…I would definitely go with the Hero/Desire

If it has SenseUI, then it cant be an “Experience” phone right? That seems to be the general consensus.
Brak, this is not true as Sprint’s Hero is a “with google experience”.
every phone is slightly better than the last. i hate gadget lust.
I believe the Droid is the “Experience” phone which is why they took Motoblur off of it.

If it’s running faster than the Hero and is under a different name, then we can speculate that it *might* have a faster processor. However, BGR didn’t confirm that it is, leaving it open for debate.
