Motorola Droid makes appearance on Motorola’s site
Uh… so much for an announcement event? Or Motorola just doesn’t know what the hell is going on (most likely the reason), because the Motorola Droid makes an official appearance on Moto’s U.S. site. It just might be that we were sent this direct link which isn’t meant to be public, but… you know how that’s going to work out. In any case, the Motorola Droid, which we have torn limb from limb (check for our preview tomorrow) is indeed a bad ass mama jama, but if you don’t want to wait for our preview, hit the jump for some screenshots!
P.S. Something to note is that the browser supports HTML5 and Motorola says Flash 10 support is coming in 2010. K.
Thanks, David!

i’m not that clued up about phones…. but i was thinking… all (except htc tattoo) android phones so far have had a screen resolution of 320×480… so all (if not most) applications available in Android Market have been designed to function at this particular resolution… so what happens when you change the resolution of the screen? ie. the droid with a res. of 480×854…. will the applications still work?… i ask this, as it is the current ‘flaw’ with the HTC Tattoo, where most of the applications are not available from Android Market.
This is why they don’t change the resolution of the iPhone. Every time a reviewer or online site claims that the next iPhone will have a higher resolution screen, I laugh. I am sure it will happen sooner or later, but it still cracks me up that they so casually think that a higher resolution screen is that easy… Palm designed it into WebOS from the beginning, which is brilliant.
Does anyone know if Verizon will force consumers to get the data plan for this “droid” like they do with Blackberry, or will customers be able to just use the Wi-fi?
Of course, there’s no point in having the phone without data. If you want to just use wi-fi, use a computer. You can get a free flip phone and save the money, the phone is pointless w/o the data.
i asked a rep at one of the stores and they said that since its a smart phone they will require the 30 data package
yes, you have to have the data plan
My only problem with this Droid is the fact that it is a Motorola phone. I have never owned one but my wife and brother have and have only had problems. Hopefully they fixed it.
Any idea what the cost might be??
I won a droid!!! In chicago last tuesday (Oct 20) , they had a “Claw Machine” and items you can win, were like bluetooths, pens, keychains ( all saying Droid Does) , and this:

Which i won
Just sold my 3Gs on Ebay. I am so fed up with AT&T I am dumping them with the hope Droid is the one phone for me!
Only for Verizon users or will it be available for other carriers as well.
I can’t upgrade till May
but it will be cheaper then
Does any one know for sure if you can tether either the Motorola or HTC Droid to a laptop for Internet like you can with a Blackberry? Verizon is giving me mixed responses.
Yes you can tether the Droid phones to a laptop. As for Wheeler’s question about the price of the Droid; the Motorola Drois is $199 with a 2yr activation and $159 for the HTC Droid Eris with a 2yr activation.
I confirmed with Verizon stores that tethering is not possible now but may be added later. Also Google is making it impossible to access Yahoo mail. No synching or manual setup capability
