Motorola Sholes / Droid live photos

moto-sholes-vzw3

We were sent in some snaps of the Motorola Sholes / Droid / Your face, and although they’re not full resolution, it’s still better than nothing, eh? We’ve been told from a separate source that the ROM on the phone is moving at break-neck speed with new builds almost daily. Maybe in time for that October 30th launch?

P.S. Do you think the Motorola Sholes will be a Verizon World Edition handset?

Thanks, Chuck!

I really don’t understand the design choice of putting the d-pad on the right side of the keyboard. Honestly, 90-93 percent of the world is right handed…when you’re right handed…you prefer a d-pad to be on the left side. I don’t know if its the gamer in me talking or what…but I have never seen any type of control device with a d-pad on the right side and the buttons on the left.

With the amazing emulators available in the android market…I’m sorry to say, but this design is ass-backwards and makes an otherwise instant buy into an instant fail.

We know you have it BG, so why the wait? Why the teasing? Is there an imminent product announcement, perhaps this week? Could you actually be holding off due to an embargo set to expire soon (I thought your ninjas didn’t require embargoes?)

    “Model:Droid”
    “Firmware:2.0″

Hope it’s usable internationally, I’ll be snagging one on Newegg soon as I can. The Aus dollar should be pretty epic by then so it won’t cost me a small fortune to get either.

Thatt doesn’t necessarily make a difference. You’ll remember that the Sense UI was ported to the g1 as well as BLUR. If you want BLUR OR Sense on this phone when it come sout, I can’t imagine it being very hard.

Any idea if this will have a virtual keyboard in landscape mode, or do you need to use the slider?

    Does it have an accelerometer?

the dpad on right is the place to be. im right handed and i prefer it there. i went back to my old vx9900 because of the keyboard layout. and the sholes looks similar enough for me to switch.

If my mind serves me correctly, I believe I read on a site with some of the specs that it would have an accelerometer, and a very good one at that, hope it helps

Figure it out… the Cliq is on the left & the Droid is on the right. If you @ haven’t seen it, you’re not looking.

LOL – is this another iPhone knock off from China. Nice “design” job and will Verizon be crippling the wifi (if it has it) like they do on their other phones.

    Chris says:

Must be the gamer in you, and lack of understanding of what it means to to right-handed. It is on the right because….. drumroll, that is most people’s dominate hand and they have more finite control with their domainate hand.

I think it is funny how Verizon is using Apple’s iPhone jingles and signature “i” and using it all over attack ads. “There a ‘map’ for that” and the new “iDon’t blah blah blah.”

They are jealous and ticked that they don’t have and won’t get the iPhone that they are getting desperate. When you mock your competition with their own creativity, you are desperate and lose.

Running their own original (and non-mockery based) ads, iPhone will continue to rule. Droid will be the newest Zune to flame out!

@ Flattery Is Everything, you sound like Android is a flash in the pan. I suggest you do some more investigating with relationship to the iPhone , Anroid & Rim, market shares programing & such. As Droid is worked with, it will grow. True att is first then verizon (Rim) & google’s ‘droid. With some look-around you’ll see some very important words proving mine.

Agreed, cscoot03. Furthermore, it’s as I read elsewhere – the only way to garner attention is to ‘attack the big dog,’ making people investigate further into your product and, thus, widening your customer base and their interest in it.

    iDont says:

I don’t usually leave posts on this kind of sites, but this one is really funny. The iPhone lovers (an may I remind you that iPhone is an IT as in a PHONE not a person) are all offended because they get shot at with their beloved product shortcomings, while they seem to have forgotten that their entire Mac ad campaign (even iPhone’s) is based at… wait for it… making fun of the competition. So pls stop whining about iDont, which, truth be told, it DOESN’T. Droid deserves that we give it a change, it’s very flexible, has great processor, good network and for 199 (-100 rebate) you dont have to take a loan to pay for it or its service
