Confirmed: AT&T launching white BlackBerry Bold on Oct. 18th

white-att-bold

Want a BlackBerry Bold? Is black just too dark and gloomy for you? Looks like your in luck. AT&T announced today, via Facebook of all places, that it will be releasing the BlackBerry Bold, white leather and all, on October 18th. No surprise to us of course, but what do you think? Is RIM becoming a little too Appley with their color scheme? Little too late now that the BlackBerry 9700 is right around the corner?

Too appley? Wow, since when did apple trademark color white? I’m sure they applied for it at some point:)

I know everyone is asking why RIM would do this with the new 9700 Bold 2 coming out so soon. It could be that they are dropping the price of the 9000 Bold, along with a new color to offer another option to those who still like the trackball.

Just not sure who said, “man let’s add a white Bold over a year after its release”. Maybe PDiddy is joining Mary J and will be pushing this on at&t commercials, the back may be fur not leather. I also have heard a platinum version will be released in 2010. Gyeah motha f**kers… Just a way too dump bold guts and trackballs.

this phone is for the winter Olympics.

plus to all the apple fans, bb os is way more functional and customizable then osx on iphone (much quicker to do what you want to do).

i have 2 iphones and im not a fan boy of anything. but honestly the iphone is a teenage toy and its good for browsing and games.

    @ David A.

Upon a second, closer look, I now see the “leather-esque” material. Thanks for pointing that out.

I would think that the pleather back would start to look yellow or gray after a while even if you keep it clean. That material soaks up dirt but not so noticeable on the black version.

You might need to apply that white Scuff Magic you use for sneakers on it after a few weeks.

RIM might have an overabundance of this model and needs a creative way to sell out to corporate users wanting a new or replacement device.

I love it! I think this is a great business move – it is very cheap to replace the black case with the white, and, a fresh way to sell the rest of the 9000 “guts” RIM has in inventory, given the superior 9700 IS coming soon. They’ve already paid for the R&D on the 9000, made the profit on the black ones, this is just gravy to clear the inventory – if it sells more, RIM can make more guts at a nothing cost …. Bravo!!

I think it’s cute. And I’m not sure if AT&T is going to get the Bold 9700 as soon as T-Mobile is. It’s possible T-Mobile might have an exclusive on it for a while, like they did with the 8900 (and, um, pretty much every other consumer GSM BlackBerry in recent memory…).

They got the Pearl first, the Pearl Flip first…did they get the Curve 8300 first? I don’t remember, but I know they got the Curve 8520 first (they’re still the only US carrier to launch it) and the Curve 8900 first. So really, getting an exclusive on the 9700 for the holidays is practically to be expected. T-Mobile is the place to be if you’re into BlackBerries, it seems. :)

Sometimes ya gotta just say “Wuh?”

Are there really that many people that would want a white bold? Especially when the 9700 is just around the bend?

I’m a fan of the bold since it’s larger keyboard is well suited to my fat fingers, but like they said during the elections “it’s like putting lipstick on a pig”.

They should of used the engineering money to fix the damn browser instead. That alone would sell more BB’s.

As a T-mobile customer, online doing some research, Just wanted to say that with T-Mobile, the Bold Is the 9700…. I’m seeing that people posting here are saying “no 9700 launched anytime soon, since the Bold is being released… Curious if there’s any diference with at&t blackberry names VS Tmobile?
