BlackBerry Tour release looms on U.S. Cellular

uscellular-9630

One of our crafty readers just let us know that U.S. Cellular will indeed be joining other state-side CDMA carriers in offering the BlackBerry 9630 to their subscribers. The specs page, listed here on their website, has no real surprises but seems to point to a looming release date. We do have to ask, with all this Essex this and Essex that talk, are you going to pull the trigger on a BlackBerry Tour?

Thanks TW!

YES! Finally, a replacement for my crappy 8330 curve. It’s about time a little carrier got some love.

im actually glad that uscc waited to release this, i heard the verizon version had some issues with the trackball, i rather wait a month or two and have a solid phone rather than be the first and have a ton of bugs..

Serious question, what areas is US Cellular offered? I’ve never seen, at least in the midwest.

The Midwest is actually their bread and butter, they cover all of Illinois, Wisconsin, NW Indiana, Oklahoma, St. Louis area, Iowa, etc.

Fifth largest carrier in the country behind the Big Four obviously.

I can’t stand USCC! I’ve had them for 5 years now and have been starting to get ripped off this last couple years. The only thing that may actually keep me with them is the Tour release! I have the Curve now and although I loved it for the year I’ve had it, I’m ready for an upgrade and it’s nice to see that they can finally get some worthwhile phones for a change instead of the crappy pieces of junk…(I.E. The Gloss!)

I played with the USCC’s Tour yesturday… it was a nice little gadget. The screen quality was excellent. Pictures were pretty good, even inside the store…. if it prints on paper or reproduces on the computer screen like it did on the device itself, then no one should have any gripes. There was an irritating delay from the time you push the auto focus icon to the time the shutter activated… maybe 2 seconds. The track ball was small and a little jerky… it skipped every so often..kinda reminded me of a home computer’s mouse with a little lint inside. But then, I don’t have a lot of experience with BB’s to know if that is how they all work or not. SIM card compatable. I think I will prefere the larger keyboard of the Pro 2 over the smaller Tour’s keyboard. As far as smartphone features, ther is only so much I’m interested in… as long as I can make phone calls, take and send a few pics & videos, access my email & contacts via the various tweets and facebook apps and view the web… I’m good to go.
