Thank’s AT&T, now I can use ippi (SIP) http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=320521498&mt=8 and Skype http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=304878510&mt=8 on the road on my 3G signal

Because Verizon doesn’t have anything worth while to control. I know because I have two of their phones. They control almost everything else–like ringtones. ATT and Verizon are not that different.

Rob, Skype doesn’t use minutes, it uses credits that purchase and then uses data when making calls. Not sure about Google Voice.

No, they just directly control what device you can and cannot use. AT&T doesn’t know/doesn’t care which device you use…benefit of GSM…

yes it does. It is imposible to make a phone call using skype and blackberry through verizon data plan.

Skype works fine over 3G on my JB iPhone 3G, OS 3.01. You have to go to Cydia and get the latest Mobile Substrate update, just released a day or 2 ago.

this is more important for blackberrys than the iphone. consider that you cannot get an iphone with data plan only but with a blackberry you can.

It seems like all of these FCC regulations are paying off for good. Next goal is to enable 3G for sling player. After that, we need to work on google voice. And finally, we need get the iphone off the AT&T network.

Verizon stating they will “allow” Google Voice has nothing to do with VoIP. Google Voice uses a traditional cellular call to connect instead of using data to transmit voice.

AT&T already allows Google Voice as well. It’s on their BlackBerry handsets and will be on any Android device they come to market with as well.

considering atts network cannot handle regular calls what makes you think that voip will work in a semi decent way? atts network is trash and dont get too excited for this
