Sprint comes to its senses, cuts Touch Pro2 price to $199 starting October 1st

sprint-touch-pro2

When we first caught wind of Sprint’s HTC Touch Pro2 pricing, we had to do a triple-take. As we just confirmed with eCare however, Sprint is wisely bringing the ridiculous $349 price of the HTC Touch Pro2 down to $199.99 (after MIR) starting October 1st. With the BlackBerry Tour, upcoming HTC Hero and — most importantly — Verizon’s Pro2 coming in at $199, this move was absolutely necessary. The price drop isn’t just good news for Sprint customers though — it would be unbelievably silly of T-Mobile to maintain its $350 price after Sprint takes the leap and joins VZW at the $200 price point, and AT&T’s should come in at $200 as well. Oh, and there’s some good news for Sprint’s early adopters as well: Some Sprint customers who purchased the device within the last 30 days are also reporting that calling telesales and chatting with eCare online may score you a $100 credit.

Thanks, Roger A!

Brighthand is reporting that the TP2 price will only be reduced for corporate customers with more than 100 lines. It will not be reduced for regular joes like us.

I called eCare (1-866-265-8306) this morning to purchase the TP2 for $199.99 and at first the rep told me there was no such deal, then she told me she just received an email from Sprint with details of the price cut! Call eCare to either place an order or to get your money back! $349.00 will break anyone’s bank for a new phone…

same here. Called eCare. She gave me the discount for business accounts. It was $199.00 with no rebates or foolishness. If you don’t get the business discount it’s $299 with $100 mail in rebate. Just say you will use your phone for business applications. Orif you get discounts from your current company, that will work too.

I actually called Sprint today, spoke to someone in the sales department and I was told that this article is false. The gentleman stated that after the mail in rebate of $100 and $150 deduction for a new contract the phone will be sold at $349. I really want this phone so please provide any extra info confirming this article if u can.

Unfortunately I called (1-866-265-8306) and they had me on hold for a long time and would not honor the 199.00 They said I have to own my own business to get that and a corporate account or employee discount account will not apply. Oh well

I called eCare earlier, the rep said that she seen the email and said that the phone would cost $199 after a $ 100MIR. They shipped the phone 3-5 business day and apparently charged for it. I logged into my Sprint account just now and under the Order Transaction History it shows $494.99 instead of 299 + tax and shipping. I will have to call back tomorrow…

    @Colorado_Al

When you do that, it indeed shows up as the $199 price, but it wont let you you add it your cart unless you have a business plan. I have a SERO account (which is compatible with this phone) and it denied me. close…but no cigar.
also, i talked to ecare and telesales today and they both said i have to be a business cutomer to get the price. i begged nicely…no deal :(

Call telesales and ask them to price match vzw’s price, some people are saying it’s working for them. If you’re already a sub you can always take your grievance to Account Services

I work for sprint and can tell you that there is not reductions for this device unless you are on a corp account. Just because the news, forums and blogs report this, Srpint does not have to honor your request. No where on sprint is there any information about the HTC pro 2 being reduced for all customers. If you hav ethe device and it has been under 30 days since activated you have the option to retrun. Keep in mind you may have a restocking fee.

We all need to be careful on blogs and such.

Tiny Tina, I think Sprint will bend on this and why would be charged a restocking fee for keeping a device?

    Tiny Tina and all,

(I am a non business customer and not on a SERO plan)

After reading your post last night and venturing to some other threads I almost gave yup hope but figured I had nothing to lose, I decided to give it a try and I was able to get the Touch Pro 2 for $449 over the phone MINUS the $100 mail in rebate and a total of $170 in credits to my account after 30 minutes of pleading my case about the competition of Verizon and being a loyal customer for 9 years. Touch Pro 2 for me =$179. I don’t know why people give Sprint customer service such a hard time, if you pay your bill and are polite they will work with you. I am not saying that this is the rule of thumb and that it will work for everyone, it all depends on your knowledge/savvy and the reps you talk to. I talked to a telesales rep earlier today and he said the TP2 will drop to $199 soon, but he didn’t have a date. Anyone interested in buying a Touch Pro 1?

        PS,

Thanks for the inquiry…I sold the TP1 about 2 weeks ago on ebay.
Good Luck on your phone search, you can find a good deal online if your patient or just talk the Sprint reps down for whatever phone you want.
