Apple App Store downloads pass the two billion mark
It’s official: the App Store is growing like a weed. This past July, Apple issued an App Store status report of sorts — stating that its on-device software distribution platform had amassed over 65,000 apps that had been collectively downloaded over 1.5 billion times. Astonishing, especially considering the App Store was only a year old at that point in time. Now, roughly two and a half months later, Apple just announced it has passed the two billion mark where downloads are concerned and its catalog contains over 85,000 apps. To recap, that’s 500 million downloads and 20,000 new apps in less than three months. We wonder how many of them are to do lists.

I’d pay upward of $50 for an app that would jerk me off
I think it’s pretty impressive how the webOS homebrew community has over 2 million downloads and it’s only been up since Aug 5th. Good to see everyone moving along. Paid apps today for the Pre woo!
What? Wait, the iPhone is a standard? It’s years ahead of other smart phones? Hold the fuck up. Had I known that it couldn’t do cut and paste for more than 4 years, I’d say the iPhone is a phone for retards. People like it because its a simple phone, for simple minded people. Even the intelligent people love it, because they hate working a phone. Apps are made to dumb you down. This is not a lifestyle, its brain washing at its best.
The iPhone’s claim to fame was never that it did everything. Even today my old Tilt can do things my fully loaded iPhone 3GS can’t. But by and large, what the iPhone DOES, it does better than competing phones. It’s a better music player (with wireless access to the biggest digital music store, and wireless Rhapsody). It’s got a better web browser, even without Flash. It’s got better GPS software (that isn’t dependent on a data connection to work). It’s got a simpler interface and a bigger selection of quality apps. It’s used by millions of people–doctors, lawyers, architects and housewives–who have better things to do with their time than to search message boards for information on how to make their phone do the things they want. Other phones are starting to catch up. I expect Android will be a real contender, and possibly the Pre, and I think that’s great. I want everybody to be able to experience what a powerful pocketable touch computer can do. But to fixate on a handful of weaknesses and argue that the iPhone wasn’t a game changer is to deny what’s happening in the market right now.
Haters on the iPhone are the same people who are Stuck on their idiot parents verizon contracts and envy the iPhone but just can’t get one. I own Both a verizon tour and a AT&T iPhone… The iPhone is the clear cut winner and it isn’t even close.
Anybody who says otherwise is just ignorant and maybe just plain stupid?
Wow, so you own two phones on two companies, and pay up the ass to have a business phone and a toy? I call that stupid spending, and really sir, you fit that profile. Enough of your faggotry.
@Tron,
And you fit the profile of a douchebag! lol Did you think that maybe his job pays for his tour? And how about letting people decide what they want to use. The numbers speak for themselves. If you don’t like the iPhone, move on instead of trying to pick fights. I swear, some people just never grow up.
From a very happy iPhone 3G user!

lol all the apple iphone hatters make me laugh, no matter what apple does is never going to be enough so why even feed into the idiots remarks. all you hear is my old tilt can do what the iphone cant or is just being able to do yada yada yada and how all the iphone owners are brain washed. well the same way they look at iphone owners as brain washed, your brain washed to because everyone is biased to what they like. but apple must be doing something right to be slowly taking more and more market share and having more and more people buying the phone. also more and more carriers wanting it. oh yea all those millions of people are brainwashed. i bet half the stuff people complain the iphone does not have now are mostly tech geeks which do stuff on there phones probably 3 percent of people care about. plus i guess all the big companies slowly adopting the iphone are fools to right lol u guys crack me up
@Tron, wow I can’t believe I disagree with every word you just stated. Apps are dumb hmm. Ur really out of touch I see. I have several apps that makemy day to day travels much more effecient. From mobile banking to my garmin gps app. Hell I have so many business apps I use I cant list them all here. Saying the apps are dumbing people down u might as well no use Any yourself They are dumbing u down on why ever smart phone your using. Ease of use is what EVERY smart phone should should strive for with out getting Buried in pages on pages of menu to find things. I can’t believe how many haters there are here towards another companies success in the wireless world.
