Android-powered HTC Desire gets FCC approval, Wi-Fi certification
While Android-craving Verizon subscribers continue to wait impatiently for official word of Motorola’s VZW-bound Android phone, it looks as though Big Red could be preparing to announce the HTC Desire just as soon. We’ve already seen the mysterious handset allegedly pop up in Verizon’s system and now more good news for the eager legions of Android hopefuls: the HTC Desire, a.k.a. ADR6200 or ADR6200VW, has not only received a nod of approval from the FCC, it has also gained Wi-Fi certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance. A diligent and resourceful tipster just dropped word of both in our inbox and now that these approval processes are out of the way, it’s only a matter of time. Considering news finally came today that the Sholes is FCC approved as well, perhaps VZW is preparing an Android spectacular of sorts. We’d love nothing more, Verizon.

Hopefully it has some upgraded hardware, but I’m doubting it. Still, it’s nice to see that the flood gates for Verizon Android phones have opened. I wonder how long until we get word of the rumored HTC Passion and HTC Predator. Maybe at least ONE of these has a faster processor?

Suddenly I’m glad that I waited on getting a smartphone on Verizon. Between this, Sholes, and possibly the Pre, there’s actually some solid looking choices coming down the line.
Nothing will help sprint. At the rate they lose subscribers they will be a mere memory within two years.
When I look at all the options, plans, prices,coverage, and hardware, I come to only one conclusion:
Sprint.
How can anyone choose anything else?

Big deal another Android nothing really special. Same slow processor. When they get a 3.5 screen with multitouch and faster processor then we talk. It has the potential.
Wow all the Verizon customers getting so happy with these garbage phones then after one week you’ll be crying about it don’t have this it don’t have that keep listing to what that fool vzw say about Verizon he’s a joke.

I have been trying out a Hero on their network for the last week. Not too bad so far. I am coming from AT&T with an Iphone. The Iphone is better and AT&T where I live is better, but I am not sure if it’s $60.00 per month better.
I love dedicated keys, and I really love when they’re not touch keys but real physical press and click keys. Touch is great for a lot of things and very flexible, but not for every single function. I also like a dedicated volume control and a dedicated power/lock button. I just don’t see any possible negatives to having those. If you want to duplicate those functions with touch as well, that’s fine, but give me my buttons.
