AT&T MMS outage?

att-iphone-mms

Oh yeah. You read that correctly. We’ve received a couple tips about MMS possibly being down completely for some AT&T subscribers and a quick call to AT&T’s customer care line revealed that there is a known latency issue with MMS in all states with no estimated time of repair.

So we ask you, dear readers: is your MMS feature working on your iPhones?

MMS in the DC metro area has not worked once since inception. The message seems to send, but then at the 95% mark, the send stops and then I get these little red exclamation points that mean the message was not delivered.

AT&T and picture messaging are like a kid and a broken jack in the box, you keep turning the crank and when the music gets to a certain point you expect the clown to come out but it never does. In this case the clown may not even exist but the kids parents keep telling him/her that it’s in there and to keep turning the crank and eventually it will pop out.

Here in the western suburbs of Chicago there is zero service in several areas since last night around 8pm CST. The area critically affected is in the vicinity of I-88 and I-294. AT&T store personnel are aware, but the AT&T phone support staff (Tier1) are, as usual, clueless. Hopefully those without land lines who need 911 will not have a life/death emergency.

All data services appear to be down in Philadelphia metro area. Can’t wait till Verizon gets the iPhone, AT&T is incapable of providing even minimally acceptable service. What a disgrace.

Here in Los Angeles, MMS images take up to three days to get through! It’s a total joke. What’s the point if you can beat MMS by days with an email attachment?
