Can you run SlingPlayer 2 on Ubuntu or Mac?? No. (Mac is available finally after 8 mo’s of being available on Windows only.

I run Mac OS 10.5.1 (Leopard) on my Thinkpad, and I don’t get it. RIM, the makers of BlackBerry devices just now, like a week or 2 ago, released, at long last, the desktop software needed to really be able to enjoy all of BB’s features. Ubuntu? Umm, nope. ‘course not.

When new technology becomes available, or when software that I want (and need in some cases), I have to use Windows. And with pleasure I do so with Windows 7 now, ever since Windows 3.1. Vista was excellent in many under-the-hood improvements. WiFi being one of them. I couldn’t have run my wireless N setup at my folks’ house w/ XP. I tried and tried, to no avail. Vista provided me with that extra 2 bars, and all was well.

Leopard is equally as unimpressive and Tiger (OS X 10.4) was. Ubuntu, and the rest of Linux OS’s, I can’t take seriously enough so they get to run in a virtual machine on my system.

Mac impressed with the iPhone. While I prefer BlackBerry, there is no denying the multimedia powerhouse of the iPhone 3G/3GS. Ubuntu? I thought so. Nothing again.

So Linux at the bottom, Mac in the middle, and the rest of you will have to work with Windows, whether you like it or not. And stop fighting it. Windows will dominate throughout our lifetimes, and likely beyond that. I promise it’ll be easier not to fight something that is undeniable, and which you have near zero effect on. Be well.

I’ve been using 7 for a couple months now. Its amazing. I run tf2 on my Mac and aion flawlessly. Any hardware including printers require no software to work. Tru plug and play. I have it on 3 PCs now and they network and work perfectly. I still love my Mac but win7 has left vista in the dust.

Windows seven is the same as Vista ,the kernel is the same the shell is the same. No matter what anyone says if those two items don’t change its just a different version of Vista and you get charged again .

I think you may want to get better acquainted with the fact that Windows 7 was RTM all the way back in August before you tell me how much I know about business. You’re telling me Christmas is more important for computer sales than the back to school season, where more laptops are sold than any other time of year? Get over yourself. And I’m sorry but a little kid using Windows 7 shows how anyone can use it, young or old? I’m sorry but not everyone is a sucker for a cute kid. But almost everyone is a sucker for smartasses, which is exactly why the mac vs. pc ads work.

I’m no fanboy, I’m on a Windows 7 system right now and it’s easily the best OS MS has ever done. But that doesn’t change the fact that it should have come out a lot earlier. Hell, it should have come out the same time Snow Leopard did, so Microsoft would have gotten some free press out of Apple’s launch. They easily win the comparison of an evolution (snow leopard) compared to what I argue is a revolution (7). Most people intelligently skipped Vista and all the people going from XP to 7 will be feel like they went from a Camry to a Lexus.

So tired of hearing people piss and moan about Vista. The Vista panic was just another case of people perpetuating myths based on some early fuck-ups, to the point where everyone believed Vista sucked “because they heard someone say so”.

Based on my experience with Windows7 so far, I realised that how much they screwed up with Vista. I can’t believe I had to use that crap for over 2 years. Get the 7, it’s totally worth it. In fact, this windows7 should be a free upgrade, if we live in the moral world of course.

you do not seem to know much about business – first if it was not complete then they should not have released it till now – they have still been doing bug fixes up until about September when they hit RTM. Second they have it ready for the busiest retail time of the year – the Christmas season. So they are in a good position. Third there marketing campaign (for the first time) is great – the little girl and all. People love commercials like that – it shows real people from young to old using the product – not like the MAC where they have a geeky kid playing the I’m a MAC.

I don’t know what idiocy went into Microsoft’s thinking when they thought it would be a smart idea to wait to officially launch 7 in late October. This thing should have either come out right after Labor Day or a month earlier for the back to school laptop craze. I’m surprised manufacturers didn’t show some more spine and tell Microsoft to quit it with their awful marketing campaign consisting of a 7 year old girl mispronouncing “responsive” and have the product actually out there in retail serving as the best possible sales campaign.

You know, I have Vista on both my Macs (hehe) and I really don’t have issues with it at all. I know it has a bad rep, but I won’t exactly be dying to get my hands on 7 right away. I only use Windows when I have to, which is rarely. Regardless, I am really glad to see Microsoft starting to pump out OS updates a little faster (even if motivated by the “perception” of a bad OS).
