Device-on images of the LG Chocolate Touch VX8575 for Verizon emerge

chocolate2

Behold, Verizon Wireless subscribers — the upcoming Chocolate sequel you had been praying was the BL40. Unfortunately no, it is most certainly not the BL40. We’ve known the Chocolate Touch would be a previously unseen handset for a while now of course, so this shouldn’t come as too much of a disappointment. As these live images of the handset emerge however, we can’t help but feel a little sad to think of how great a subsidized BL40 on VZW could have been. Alas, the peculiar mid-range handset you see at the top of this post is what we have to look forward to in its place. Rumored specs include a 3.2MP camera, 3.5mm headset jack, HTML Web browser, some form of limited multitasking support, a music player and a WVGA touchscreen display. Hit the jump for another shot.

Wake me up Verizon when you decide to join the times and get a phone people actually give a piss about. I’ve had my Storm since it launched last November and have been waiting for an announced Android device for ages. My girlfriend has a bunch of Android option on T-Mobile.

Best network, worst phones. I’m really getting fed up with the garbage devices on Verizon.

Notice instead of EV, it now says 3G on the wiresless connection corner. Good marketing ploy, verizon wanted it to appear more like the iPhone’s status bar.

The reason for the design is due to a focus group voting on this version. (According to Phonearena)I thought no one liked the long version? They should just call this one Dare 2.

Has anyone else notice that Verizon is replacing the EV with 3G now?

    VZW says:

No, its not just this phone. Most of our new phone with upgrades will have the 3G and not EV. Why? Because when people hear 3G they are going to look for 3G and not EV.

Meh, the BL40 is uglier than this is. Either way, doesn’t matter, neither is nearly as good as my Touch Pro 2.

You guys are retarded. I’d much rather have this phone in my pocket than the gay ruler that is the BL40.

Research is in. People still like the LG Voyager so we get yet another Voyager clone from LG. Good news for LG is they only have to tweak a few things in the manufacturing process every time they release a *new* touch screen phone. They must be making a fortune.

That may actually be the ugliest phone I’ve ever seen.

The abstract pattern of the button being continued on the back is even uglier.

They are changing EV or EVDO to 3G now… Geez i guess too many people were confused (especially with storm and tour) why their phone wouldn’t show 3G. Now if only our BB would show two signal bars, one for EV and the other for 1X

    celz says:

@ steve yes this phone is attempting to trick people into getting a chocolote instead of an iphone not by copying the looks or features but by changing the ev to a 3g. Dont kid yourself lg beat apple to the full touch party any way.. cdma carriers should ditch ev for 3g.. you dont see gsm phones with hs.. and gsm 3g is based on cdma anyway.. but this phone sucks doesnt look chocolate at all this looks to have about the same specs as the dare or the versa with a new name.. lame its not even chocolate colors lmao

    Mog says:

I don’t know what kind of focus group preferred this to the BL40, but the fact that EVERYBODY ELSE ON THE INTERNET seems to prefer the BL40 should overrule whatever focus group they had. ;-)

And it’s not like offering this or offering the BL40 are mutually exclusive options, either. They could always bring the BL40 out as the Chocolate Touch and then this…thing could be the Dare 2 (or “Double Dare” or whatever name they’ll call it). The Chocolate brand is all about minimalism, and Verizon prostitutes it out to this very ostentatious (have you guys seen the back?) “fashion” phone? Ugh. Ugh ugh ugh.

@Mog: Really. What the hell is up with the back? LG tries to set the phone apart and their answer is to draw random ass shapes using chrome and rubber.

    Dumb.

Some phones show H for 3.5G. Rogers version of the HTC Magic shows both H and 3G depending on speeds.

about time they put the damn 3G on the phone. that’s all we here all day long. “which one of your phones is 3g?”. then we have to explain that 3G is nothing more then being able to send and receive data over a wireless connection.
