We’ve got the goods on some upcoming AT&T smartphones from HTC and Garmin-ASUS

att-pure-pricing

While many of you spent last night watching grown men pummel one another into submission, we here at BGR put in some over time so we could get to the bottom of the pricing of some upcoming AT&T smartphones. And just as you would expect, we’ve come through. First off we have two HTC offerings, the Tilt2 (Touch Pro2) and Pure (Touch Diamond2). On contract and after applying $50 MIRs, we’ve heard the Tilt2 will be $299.99 while the Pure will go for $199.99. Off contract, you’re looking at $499.99 and $349.99 respectively. Second, we have the Garmin-ASUS nüvifone G60 which will finally ditch its North American vaporware status when it hits retail shelves with the 2-year price of $299.99 after a $100 MIR. Off contract, the G60 will command $549.99, a princely sum, indeed. Unfortunately we’ve not been able to confirm the AT&T Pure or nüvifone G60 release dates, but we do have a pretty accurate idea on the Tilt 2. Still, we’d expect to see all three of these devices before the end of October based upon the fact that this is when these prices are effective until.

UPDATE: We’ve just been sent a photo of the pricing for the AT&T Pure which shows it actually going for $149.99 with a two-year agreement.

Are you guys 15 years old? Its ridiculous to be arguing over this. The reason there’s not only A phone is to choose from, so opinion are good. Stop being immature about anything.

ToeCutter and ALL other iPhone enthusiasts

We get it, iphones rule and everything else is second rate. However, your “same old thing with a shinny wrapper” comment was uncalled for. Who is the ‘master’ of re-wrapping…you guessed it, Mr. Jobs himself. Take a quick gander (not the male Goose) at how many apple devices do the SAME thing. Apple piece mails their products. I have witnessed so many Iphone lovers trade one version for the next each time one is released with minimal upgrade. The latest being the NEW 3Gs (i thhink now with video and MMS capability) that is a must have. How many phones not the caliber of the iPhone have had this capability…plenty. Besides, after the web browser (which is good) what are you left with? Also, there are some people (like me)who do not care to use a phone to access the web, thus removing the iPhone as a possible choice when deciding on a a device.

Another fine example of re-wrapping by apple…the NEW Nano (or mini not sure) with video. I am not saying apple sucks, but the variety of ways they deliver the same product while making customers think it is something differnt is pure genius to say the least.

I can go on about iPhone vs. other phones but what is the use. iPhone users will forever say it is the best and those without will say it isn’t. So you see, they all re-wrap and borrow ideas to enhance their market place.

I never thought I’d EVER agree with Rush Limbaugh, but here we are. I’ve played with an iPhone & it just doesn’t meet my needs. Nothing against the iPhone, but I have a TILT and an iPhone just won’t do in a business setting. It’s much easier to take quick notes in a meeting on the TILT than on the iPhone. It’s much easier to sync & transfer docs & excel spreadsheets I’ve been designing during a “hallway meeting” on the TILT than I’d be able to on an iPhone. It’s much easier to expand my storage via SD card on my TILT than it would on the iPhone. Should I have a need for an extra battery, I can take advantage of the battery switching capabilities in a TILT than I would on an iPhone. oooh, wait a minute… Does an iPhone have spreadsheet creation capabilities, or document writing, storage expansion, battery switching, personalization (ringtones, etc.) capabilities? I haven’t checked one out lately. Help me out. But, hey. If you want a net surfer, mp3 player with a a good browser & some social networking capabilities, then an iPhone will suit you just fine. That doesn’t mean you’re gay! You just like a play toy. If however, you need a powerful workhorse of a device that will actually pay itself in productivity, I say a good Win Mo on a TYTN II or Touch Pro2 may just fit the bill. It just may

The reason I will not opt for an iPhone is simple: they do not support BlackBerry Enterprise Server services. I need Blackberry Connect, and WinMo has it and Apple does not.

iphone does support EAS (OMA) to Exchange Server just like WM and WM doesn’t need BlackBerry Enterprise Server nor Blackberry Connect. Those are BlackBerry services only.
