Verizon to launch HTC Imagio October 6th, Android-powered HTC Predator to follow

HTC-Whitestone

It looks as though T-Mobile subscribers will have two big reasons reasons to rejoice come November 11th, but they’re not the only ones with cause for celebration in the near future. Let’s not forget that Windows Mobile fans around the world will have a reason to party well ahead of that; in fact, one of our trusty ninjas has just added to the Windows Phone fray with the juicy tidbit that on October 6th — the day Windows Mobile 6.5 devices lift off globally — Verizon Wireless plans to get in on the action with the HTC Imagio. Codenamed Whitestone and previously mistaken for the Touch Diamond2, the Imagio features WinMo 6.5 along with a 3.6-inch WVGA touchscreen display, a 528MHz Qualcomm processor, 512MB ROM/256MB RAM, a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and anti-shake, GPS and GSM connectivity in addition to Verizon’s CDMA/EV-DO connectivity. As a tasty little aside, we’ve heard from a few sources that the HTC Predator will likely land on VZW later in October, though for the time being all we know is that it will run Android. Getting excited yet, Verizon fans?

You’re not from AT&T are you? Are you doubting these reports is that why you need a to know a source? PC World, HEXUS, Tech Whack and many others, provided no source, only that Verizon will get this phone. In fact HEXUS referred to many reports as its source of information. You don’t need to cite a source when reporting this type of news. We all understand the nature of this beast, maybe except for you. Many high profiles news organizations, which let me make clear BGR is not, rarely reveal their sources. Remember the Washington Post reporter who wouldn’t give up her source so the Judge threw her in jail? Maybe you don’t remember?

Another famous AKA for someones source or sources is “anonymous” I’m sure you’ve heard of that?

In this case a trusty ninja is his source.

This is basically the Touch Pro 2 without a physical keyboard (and WinMo 6.5 of course). If you can deal with a virtual keyboard, then wait for this over the TP2.

What are the key differences between the Touch Pro 2 and the Imagio? My understanding they both support Windows Mobile 6.5 and that TP2 has a keyboard in addition to touch screen.

The TP2 on VZW comes with WinMo 6.1 right now, but will probably offer an update sometime down the road. The Imagio will ship with 6.5; it also supports Vcast Mobile TV, and of course no keyboard (which I prefer for the thinness factor).

If you get a smart phone (Pre, Hero) you will be required to get the Everything Data Plan for 2, which is $129/month. Sprint offers many corporate discounts, Government 15%, USPS 25%, Credit Union 10%, AOL member 10%.

to follow up, with Verizon you would get the Family Messaging Plan for 2 ($99 (700m) or $119 (1400m)) and then add the data plan for your phone ($30/month).

But the Sprint Everything Data also includes: Navigation, Sprint TV, all Sprint services. Those are all extra on Verizon.

When you ask Verizon why that are not competitively priced with Sprint, which they clearly agree with, they say that Sprint is not considered their competition, only AT&T.

The HTC Imagio has a 5MP camera, the HTC Touch Pro 2 has a 3.2MP camera (I have the TP2). I’m still in my 30 day eval period, am seriously considering returning TP2 to get the Imagio. I love the TP2, but don’t need the keyboard, and would love to have the better camera (and a slightly thinner phone).

I have a question. I currently use PdaNet to connect my Verizon phone to my computer and use as modem without paying Verizon the tether costs. Is there something like this for non-Windows OS phones?

Im thinking about getting (1) of the HTC phones, which is better, TP2 or Imagio? Virtual keyboard is tolerable, i only need it for hte windows app for my audio books.

I switched from the HTC Pro 2 to the Imagio. I didn’t like how thick the HTC Pro 2 was and the keyboard wasn’t necessary. I like the better camera feature.
