New Apple tablet rumors: 9.6-inch touchscreen, HSDPA and P.A. Semi processor
If an apple a day keeps the doctor away, what does an Apple tablet rumor a day do for you? We don’t know but if these Apple tablet rumors continue their current pace, we may just find out. Today we have some fresh Apple tablet information courtesy of the Taiwan Economic News. The Tawainese newspaper is reporting that Apple’s upcoming tablet will feature a 9.6-inch “finger friendly” Wintek touchscreen, HSDPA connectivity (no Verizon Wireless), and a processor from Apple-owned P.A. Semi. The information comes from battery maker Dynex, which claims it has a contract to produce 300,000 long lasting battery packs per month for the upcoming Apple tablet. According to this rumor, the tablet will retail for $799 to $999 and will arrive sometime in February 2010. Check back tomorrow when all of these details change yet again at the hand of another wave of rumors.

finally apple following MS path. Bill Gates first came up with idea of touch in late 90’s. now apple is copying that idea with iphone and now tablet.
only problem with windows tablet was, it came at wrong time and people were not adaptive much for touch screen.
@ charlie, yes they findly following MS path but the price tag if is true; isnt. At least you are the only person i see that finally gave MS recognition for implementing the use of touch screen devices with there software. I like both companies but i’ll still to MS.

@ BLacKuLa & charlie No no no.. you both have it wrong. Apple was first, is frist and always will be first. I thought everyone on this site would have known that by now.. Oh right, they are also the best, have been the best and will always be the best.. Now to the good stuff.. My sisters husbands brother told me he just bought a pair of shoes that were made in Taiwan. Under the insole of one of the shoes he found a note from a factory worker stating that he had a cousin that worked in a sweat shop battery factory in Taiwan and he had info that this gem of a tablet will be released on Tuesday in Best Buy stores across America.
There is no way this thing will retail for $999 or under. Even if it does who would pay that for it when you can portable netbook of that size for less than 1/3 of the price.
Who the hell would pay $799-$999 for this thing when you can get a macbook for $999, and I saw a report that we can expect a redisigned one with a lower price in the not too distant future. No one will buy a tablet for that price. I think $500 or so would be better, and even that’s too much.
I wish someone would sell competing hardware stateside. A lot of nice stuff drops in Asia. This would drive the prices down. And I wouldn’t have to listen to as many sheep who are funding the next kidney transplant. Maybe his kidneies would be OK if he stopped drinking his own Kool-Aid. Just sayin’

For all of you with smartphones, which I’d say is the majority of those who post on here, what is the point of this or any other netbook? I don’t get it. It’s just another thing to carrier around and pay verizon or att 40 dollars a month to use.
800-1000 for 9.7 inch screen? I will pass. I was looking forward to the pad until I read this report.
iphones are everywhere now and even the homeless people have one. the apple fanboys need some way to feel superior and this is it.

Yeah, I agree that iPhones are everywhere. Apple should implement an exclusive color for the highest GB iPhone in order to differentiate it from the other iPhones.

Wonder if those prices are before carrier sub so they can get the price under $500. If it’s sold without carrier contract then 799 – 999 is screaming niche. I just don’t see a huge audience to drop that kind of cash but then again most Apple fanbois just want to look hip.
I agree with most people on here. I wouldn’t pay the price. Especially if that meant I had to pay 50 dollars a month to my provider. Now, if this was a laptop, and I was rich and liked to show of my Apple products at Starbucks, I’d buy it.
Hey apple created the ipod touch which IMO is worth every penny spent, very fun and user friendly and great capability and fairly cheap as far as I’m concerned, and the apple laptops are excellent and becoming far more superior to microsoft, the hardware, ui, and quality is all there, nothing to complain about, not to mention applications for macs are just as easily gotten as windows ones, true I dislike some of apple but I cannot judge how great it is, and every penny spent it comeletely worth it hands down, I have been a windows “fanboy” for a long time and actually a previous tech student in my junior highschool life and can assemble and set up a computer givin the parts without trying, its rather simple, but, windows has many errors, and I find stability in mac much more dealable and worth it than what windows offers, the battery life on some of these mac devices is outstanding, and the power seems endless. Worst I can say is so few games are for mac, greatest downfall, overall mac beats windows. I hated to admit it for the longest time until I realized every computer I have ever seen running windows ended up being junk towards the end where macs prevailed and still ran, pretty much a tank. A friend tried to convince me and then one day it hit e and I realized how far from right I really was.don’t get me wrong windows is great I love it dearly, but macs do blow windows laptops away
I will say one thing, the tablet deal, is clearly retarded, why go through all the trouble with a silly tablet when clearly a netbook or full blown macbook is cheaper and more worth the money :p
this thing looks awesome and i`m sure it will be worth the price i`m looking forward to get it, and i`m not really an apple fanboy but seriusly ms girls don`t be jealous just cause MS didn`t get 1 out first, after all ms has the biggest market share right? then be happy with just that.
