Nokia Erdos spotted in promo video
Nokia can produce a luxury phone like none other and its latest rumored endeavor, the Erdos, is no exception. Featuring a slick polished aluminum casing, matching mirrored 2.4-inch QVGA OLED display and a keyboard that rises when the slider is drawn, the Erdos is seemingly shaping up to be the epitome of class. Under the hood, the Erdos is no slouch with a 5 megapixel auto-focus camera, Carl Zeiss optics, dual LED flash, microSD expansion (up to 8GB), Wi-Fi, aGPS, Bluetooth (A2DP), activity LEDs, noise reduction microphone, tap sensitive commands and HSPA connectivity. It’s also said to run S60, though Nokia typically opts for S40 in its 88xx series handsets. After watching this seductive video, one can’t help but want to slide this beauty into his or her pocket. Since this little guy would undoubtedly be the most well-spec’d handset to ever hit Nokia’s 88xx line, expect an astronomical price tag should it ever see the light of day. Hit the jump for the video, scotch and cigar optional.

amazing design
but i think the shiny display will make it really hard to watch under sunlight, even tho there’s an OLED screen underneath
But OLED’s are bad either way under sunlight. So this will be a terrible combination unless they have something else that helps.
The people that will be able to afford this phone will likely not be concerned by such trivial matters such as visibility.
Nice look, spec is missing?
a thing of beauty, yes. but man, nokia’s been cooking up some high price tags for their phones lately and i’m having a hard time justifying the price of the phone with the phone. you’d think that the economic situations would prompt them to lower their phone prices just a bit, but nnnnooooooo… and when they do, it’s still too expensive for their budget phones. it really bugs me. but i don’t know… i think i was spoiled with moto’s phones being much cheaper lately…
“Featuring a slick polished aluminum” Eh Genius?
The video clearly says stainless steel, well maybe not clear enough
Usually not the most popular in the US, but these are always nice phones. Expensive, but nice.
Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).
So is this in the same price range as their ultra high-end Vertu line? If its so expensive, does it also come with personal concierge like the Vertu?
cool looking phone, and god knows its time for the yearly update of the 88xx series, but im gonna call shenanigans on this(god i hope im wrong though)
88xx’s are just basic s40 phones with tiny screens and shitty cameras, covered in glass/steel
i doubt the avg user of a 88xx knows what wifi or oled is
88xx make good weekend/fashion phones, thats about it
Hey dumb ass Nokia makes high end devices for the folks that can kick up a few more bucks, not cheap tight asses like you if you walk in to a store like Gucci or a dealer like Lexus do you say man that’s too much? No your dumb ass just don’t go to those places right. Stick with window shopping and waiting for sites like this to show a video show you can Experience nice things in life you under grad F.A.G
hey dipshit, did i mention anything about price?
learn some english, of course 8800 are going to be expensive, there is nothing wrong with that, after all they are made of premium materials
but thats not the crux of my argument, its that 88xx series are basic phones at heart, not multi media wifi vanguards
im sorry btw, did i hurt your pussy this morning?
So what is your Erdos number?
I’m looking forward to this phone if it’s real.
I still have my 8890 from 2001 and I still use my 8801 from 2005. Yea, these phones were expensive, but I’ve never needed more than 2 phones in almost a decade. “Cheaper” phones wouldn’t last long with me and would need replacement for one reason or another and end up costing me more.
I’m also looking forward to the GPS abilities, the navigation in my car doesn’t address traffic. (it’s a 2000 model)
I couldn’t care less for the wi-fi or even the camera, but I guess that’s good for emergencies. The simpler it is, the easier to use, and the longer it lasts.
I just hope this comes to America, it’s about for an update, my 8801 is beginning to seriously deteriorate.
I agree with Sid, this is all glamour and nothing else, like other 8xxx phones, even with S60 on it now. It’s made for wankers that think they are better than others because they have money. And btw, I’ve bought them before so speak from experience.
Sid and Sadayvk,
I am a week behind, but you guys are funny. My day was brightned by the colorful commentary displayed between the two of you.
