Verizon makes the HTC Touch Pro2 official; September 11th, $199.99

vzw-touch-pro2

It’s official, Verizon fans — one of the sexiest Windows Mobile handsets to launch this year can be yours starting tomorrow. Just like we exclusively scooped last week, the HTC Touch Pro2 will be available tomorrow, September 11th for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate on a 2-year contract. While $200 is a substantial amount of money of course, it looks like peanuts compared to the insane $349.99 Sprint and T-Mobile are asking. Customers looking to score a Pro2 from Sprint or Tmo shouldn’t despair just yet though — Verizon’s insanely competitive pricing will likely clear the early adopter tax from both carrier’s offerings relatively quickly. If you’re a Verizon customer however, there’s no need to wait. Anyone planning on snagging one of these bad boys tomorrow?

UPDATE: For those asking below, Verizon has confirmed to us that the Touch Pro2 will be $489.99 off contract.

Thanks, Jason!

Pandora is available for a limited number of WinMo devices (Qik, a video product, has much better support for winmo). However, I have heard that at xda forums there are several versions of Pandora for different winmo phones.

I had the exact same issue w/ my Tours. Finally got sick of asking people to repeat themselves and vice versa, I activated my 4yr old Razr V3C and haven’t had a voice quality problem since.

Hey just stopped in one of the larger Verizon stores near Suwanee, GA (metro Atlanta). Their staff was aware of the phone but had no clue as to when it would arrive in the store. So the press releases are telling you a little lie if you believe the stores will actually have it tomorrow. Some may, some may not, who knows, but this was one of the biggest Verizon stores (one of the biggest wireless stores I’ve ever seen) and they had almost no clue about it. What gives?

Yeah, I just called 3 major stores in the Boston area, and they all knew about the phone, but said they wouldn’t get any in until next week…

PLEASE ANSWER!!! Ok… i had the Blackberry Storm and i kept having to get replacement after replacement. Finally, one day i called customer service and demanded a new phone and they offered me a brand new Blackberry Tour at no charge. I was told to send my Storm back w/ everything it came with when i received the Tour. I received the Tour on Aug. 12 and today is Sep. 10th. I like the Tour but I continue to have trouble with the e-mail. In the box that I got with the tour, info about the 30 day return policy came along with it. Long story short the TP2 comes out at Verizon TOMORROW and I was going to try to see if i could swap phones… but if im not mistaking, I think tomorrow would be the 31st day I have this phone… Do you think since its only 1 day they will go ahead and do it? or do you think im outta luck? or could i have ever swapped in the first place?

I went through the exact same thing you did, except now they won’t swap me from a Tour to anything. They did however agree to send me a new Tour (which comes today and I will sell) and give me a 2yr price on a phone when one comes out that meets my needs.

In short, I’m not sure if the TP2 is the phone for me, but if I had a choice TP2 or Tour, I’d go w/ the TP2 and hope it doesn’t have voice quality issues, trackball issues, screen quality issues, or just generally suck.

I am so sick of this Sprint’s plans are cheaper thing, because they’re only cheaper on paper.

I also looked into this whole anymobile thing that sprint came out with, and big f’n deal.

I use about 2,100 minutes per month (95% during peak time), and about 600 text/pix/flix. Due to the number of people on Verizon’s network, plus my 5 free numbers, I don’t need anything more than the 900 minute plan.

    So, my options:

    Sprint – Simply Everything ($99) + Insurance ($7) = $106/mo

    Verizon – 900 minutes w/ unlimited data & m2m ($99.99) + 500 text/pix/flix w/ unlimited m2m ($10) + Insurance ($7.99) = $117.98/mo

WOW, so you mean I can save less than 12 whole dollars per month if I leave one of the highest rated carriers for the lowest rated carrier??? Eh, I’ll pass.

Call em up. But just so you know, I’ve been given incorrect information 2x in less than a week and it’s caused some unneeded annoyances.

I was told to come into a store by a 611 rep and they would refund my Tour price to me and reset my 2yr date. I went down to the store, everything was in the dude’s notes, but they said fuck off, we don’t care. I spent over an hour @ that store before they agreed to at least send me a new Tour.

Secondly and worst of all, I went over my minutes recently so I had to change plans. When I did this the rept insisted he could put me back on the America’s Choice II plan for the next month and it would happen automatically. Not only did it not happen like it should have, but the order was cancelled wo/ me being notified at all (because of the new Tour being sent out), and they had no plans to notify me. Now I’m being told it’s not in the notes, the guy never said that, I’m a liar, and NO you can’t have your America’s Choice II plan. I wanted to cancel w/ them right there, but she went off about the ETF and I told her to fuck off and hung up the phone.

Yeah, I’m bitter…and pissed. Fuck you Verizon.

    @ Taylor and Jodiuh,

I also had a shit load of problems with my Storm and was offered the Tour, I didn’t want it (knew other phones were abrewin that were bettter) so I held off as long as I could, but I can’t wait any longer (I do about 2 battery pulls a day) so I’m gonna go with the TP2. The asshole tried to offer me a TP after I said a rep told me the TP2 is coming out tomorrow, I said I’ll call tomorrow and take the TP2 instead thanks though. If you can’t get the TP2 just talk a new replacement of the Tour and eBay it. Sucks but once you take a replacement for a new phone you can’t make another exchange.

The key is everyone he talks to has Verizon. Even if you could talk to everyone in the world for free they can’t talk to him back so its no point in him switching.

Well, I’ve been through 7 months of shitty Berry’s and am ECSTATIC to have found my old Razr V3C. It does nothing but make calls, but the voice quality’s superior in every way. It’s been months since I’ve had a clear call and now I’m finally back to that awesome voice all quality I’ve been so used too.

Can’t wait to read about the TP2 tomorrow in some reviews. Looks like a great device.

I was able to confirm that this will be avialable starting tomorrow through the website and telesales. However the only thing that is not confirmed int he price. The rep even put a note on my account that I can order it tomorrow and even bill it to my account if the upgrade price is below 250…… HOW EXCITING… MY BLACKBERRY STORM IS GOING ON EBAY BABY

Go with the winmo since the TP2 will be able to be upgraded from 6.1 to 6.5 plus AT&T’s network is not the best.

Nice to see the upgrade price run the same as the standard cost…

Not quite as nice to see no rebate on that (even on a business plan with further discounted hardware). Back to waiting for an Omnia2 after all.
