Apple iTunes 9 announced, home sharing, app organization, social networking

Looks like what we reported turned out to be true — social networking sharing (sending information to Facebook and Twitter as well as app organization). Apple’s iTunes 9 is now officially official and there’s some great features in here. Application organization for iPhone/iPod touch apps, home sharing which will share your entire iTunes content on up to five machines, support for iTunes LP (referred to as project Cocktail in the past) and much more. It’s available now.

I just want them to make the Windows version more responsive. I’m sick of clicking on things (on a 3.0 Ghz dual core processor) and waiting 1-3 seconds for something to happen. If I didn’t have an iPhone, I’d ditch iTunes entirely.

the absolutely most shocking thing is a video camera on the nano along with FM, and nothing for the ipod touch except more storage

So the big question will be if this update breaks the Palm Pre’s sync functionality and escalates that war

The decision not to upgrade the iPod touch was a very wise one in my opinion. There aren’t very many differences between iPod touch and iPhone as it currently stands. Apple certainly does not want the iPod touch to cannibalize iPhone sales as iPhones generate more revenue than iPod touches due to the apps that require gsm radios. I too was hoping that Apple updated the touch but a touch with 64GB is a beast!!! Seems like very few people saw this one coming….

OK, does anyone remember the iTunes 9 screenshot (leaked previously) showing a non-Apple MP3 player syncing with iTunes? It had a Toshiba or Samsung device under “devices”. I thought Apple really was going to make iTunes open to any device, and instead they just screwed with the Pre once again! Figures.

Ya I’m not a big fan so far. Played with it for about ten minutes and discovered that there is no social sharing interface for tracks in ur library. U can only share music from the itunes store if and only when u buy a track or an album. Boy that’s pretty crappy. And that green button on the top left corner that used to minimise the itunes window does nothing now. If I want to activate the mini player I have to press three buttons on the keyboard (shift, apple, m)…ya…I don’t thinks so. So far am unimpressed. Might as well stick with 8.2.1 or whatever the previous one was.
@ Roger A: BRG has been announcing this unofficially via leaks aka BGR ninjas. So obviously an official statement by Apple has to be released. Not sure where ur confused about this.
