LG’s first Android phone, the Etna, gets pictured at a German trade show
It looks like Vodafone subscribers may be among the first to get their hands on LG’s virgin Android offering as the handset has reportedly just made its first official public appearance. Spotted at a Vodafone booth at the IFA trade show in Germany, the Etna appears to be a decently-spec’d Android phone, though all we have so far is a sliding QWERTY, 3-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth and a 5 megapixel camera. This all strikes us as odd of course, considering “Etna” was the codename for AT&T’s LG Neon feature phone when it was first explored back in February. Maybe LG liked the name so much, it decided to reuse it as the launch name on its Android phone? We imagine the details will all be ironed out soon enough but in the meantime, let’s all just keep our finger’s crossed that LG’s Android phone finds its way to the US sooner rather than later — we could certainly use the variety.

Go Yankees!
It looks good, better than any android phone currently in our country anyways.
Lancaster?
wait this isn’t LG’s first android phone. what about the gw880 on china mobile?
what is the screen resolution on this?
Tired of seeing android phones with 480×320 screens.
that’s a nice looking android..
NO CHIN!!!
+1 On the no chin comment. Too many ugly HTC Chintastic phones the market already.
full qwerty + android = love
i want one
This would be GSM right?
Thought Android had to have 5 designated keys…. Home, Back, Navigation, Power, etc…. I dont see any soft keys either…. hmmmmmm….
Sh Sh Sh Sh Sholes
Maybe they’ll make the Laharl and Flonne phones too…but in all seriousness that phone looks pretty dope.
@ Eric:
I really dig the way the myTouch 3G looks. So do people I run into at work or on the street. People I’d least expect to comment about phones in my circle have made mention to how good looking it is.
Even my brother who admittedly is part of the Apple/ATT cult likes the form factor and thin-light weight appeal.
I didn’t care for the G1 but the myTouch looks much better in person.
BTW: I have the white one.
The keyboard looks great. Verizon seems to have a great relationship with LG so if it comes to the U.S. I’m gonna bet on it coming to Verizon.
LOL at Dave R
Again… more inefficient use of the real estate that could fit a larger screen. The footprint:screen-size ratio should be maxed out. Also, if its not snap dragon, whats the big upgrade?
looks a bit plastic / cheap
will wait and see if x3 or scholes/schules is better
@Swagger, they’re gonna get spanked by the Angels… Again.

Wasn’t the Etna the original name for the Neon?
