HTC Touch2 gets touched, reviewed

What better way to start off a new week than with an early review of an unreleased handset from our Russian friends at mobile-review. Maybe it’s a Labor Day present. This week they’ve managed to get their hands on the HTC Touch2, a device that will help kick off the Windows Phone revolution evolution interim solution. Overall the device scored well with good build quality, pocket/palm-friendly dimensions, great performance, solid call quality and good battery life; but it wasn’t all milk and cookies. One of the biggest shortcomings of the Touch2 appears to be the lack of auto-focus for the 3 megapixel camera — mobile-review feels the cam produces shots with bland colors and an extra helping of blur. Also, the navigation buttons proved to be very difficult for those with larger digits. As for how much the Touch2 will cost when it hits shelves starting October 6th, no one is really sure but the latest word is that it will run about $500 unlocked, give or take.

Windows mobile needs a facelift. Hiding it under TouchFlo isn’t fooling anybody.

^^ re: iphone; if it aint broken don’t fix it… HTC in the other hand needs a lot of help, but more should be put on WM. HTC, Samsung & others shouldn’t have to be hiding WM w/their UI.

Nothing wrong with WM, way more powerful than the iPhone, and without the dumb apple/AT

With the Oct6th release date this phone will most certainly be running W6.5.
That already has “a facelift” and a pretty substantial one. Titanium is almost as good as TouchFlo plus it brings a number of actual finger friendly goodness to the table.

It appears to be entry level. While a number of people may have bought a Touch a few years ago for $250, It’s going to have to be heavily subsidized to compete with the other smartphones that are out or about to be released soon.

Why r we talking about the iphone? This will be htc’s cheapest phone since they launched the viva. I’d expect a price point well under $500 since you can get the hero for $550 unlocked. All carriers in europe will be giving this away for free and i’d expect U.S. carriers to sell it at about $100 with a new 2 year contract. It’s an entry level wm 6.5 phone, nothing else. Dont expect the world, but it’s still htc, so you get your moneys worth

^^ my point exactly.. i can admit the iphone is a great phone i would reccomend them if not for at&t.. can you admit it has as many glaring flaws as wm.. i just installed touch flo 3d2.1 with panoramic wallpapers.. there is no home screen that comes close period.. most menus and settings have been updated so whats the downside.. its not iphone or webos polished but its at an android or bb level imo.. wms shortcomings are without a doubt too much for many but dont act like at&t people pick wm over the iphone every day

well I still havent made my choice on what to pick. I have had a WM phone for a while now but I am really considering the Hero. I liked this phone but with the price tag, I can can get a DM2 here in Bangkok.

I like the omnia 2 but its way up there.
