Opera 10 RC available now, release version coming September 1st
Among all of the great Web browsers out there, it seems like Opera manages to generate the most enthusiastic group of loyalists we’ve seen. No, they’re not quite as gung ho as, say, BlackBerry or iPhone addicts, but they’re a feisty bunch all the same. Well Opera fans, the day you’ve been waiting for is almost upon us. Opera announced via its blog this morning that its Opera 10 release candidate is now available for download and the final version will lift off on September 1st, as in one week from today. Highlights from the horse’s mouth:
Opera 10 features Opera Turbo, the new bandwidth-booster for slow Internet connections. It also features a significantly improved Opera Mail, Opera’s built-in e-mail client. Tabbed browsing enters the next phase of its evolution with resizeable [sic], thumbnail tabs. The upgrade of Opera’s Speed Dial now gives users a chance to personalize their favorite online destinations and the overall look and feel of their start page.
Opera also claims that version 10 of its browser is a remarkable 40 percent faster than the already-spry Opera 9.6. Long story short, it’s definitely worth checking out.
Looks fine and dandy, but still, Firefox 3.5 = win and that is what i will probably be sticking with.

I have the beta version. Google Chrome is a better and faster broswer. It (Opera 10 beta) also doesn’t feature a incognito or private browsing option.
My Firefox 3.5.2 runs pretty darn fast especially after the tweaks I got from this site. Thanks BGR for posting it. I’ll give Opera 10 a try when it comes out though.
No thanks. I don’t care how good Opera is, I’m not going to use it. The fact that they use the EU regulators as puppets to strong arm their way into Windows via “Ballot Box” is just plain wrong.
Maybe if they did it the old fashioned way, like make a commercial, then I’d change my mind. Until then, when I see that ballot box I’m picking IE8 or Firefox.

Ooh… I’ll have to download this! I had been using a snapshot a few months ago, but switched to Safari 4 / Chromium because I kept having a bug that would cause Opera to never remember the window size I wanted it to be.
Here’s to hoping it’s fixed (I <3 Opera)
i cant wait. fire fox is aight, and IE is still solid, but Opera pushes the pedal to the metal when it comes to speed and usability. Cant wait:)
I’m happy with Safari but I’ll definitely take a look.

Well, not to harsh on there accomplishments… but at this point with so many high profile browsers out there I feel like the folks at Opera should just focus on Mobile Browsers. They do it well, and its an area where they can still be relevant and competitive.
Again, not trying to ruin they’re fun, but… no one cares, we’re all rocking Firefox/Chrome/Safari/IE.
…You know what we’ve got as a viable browser on our smart phones though? Opera/WebKit…

Firefox 3.5.2 FAILS the test.
Google Chromium 4.0.204 FAILS the test.
Safari 4.0.3 PASSES the test.
This is all of course using OS X.
it’s the mouse gestures, stupid.
i treat browsers like nfl coaches treat running backs, i use as many as needed. opera is the primary browser, followed by chrome.
ie and firefox have been mostly phased out.
Opera is the king. It’s the only browser that runs at a decent speed on my NetBook. Chrome was fast when it started but it’s sluggish now. I use Firefox on my desktop but for some reason it’s horribly slow on my Netbook.
Can’t wait to try version 10
The only thing I don’t like about Opera is that it doesn’t do MobileMe very well. Firefox, IE, and Chrome all work well, as does Safari … But that one is a given.

I too use as many browsers as necessary (using FF now), Opera is the most efficient from a user experience perspective (albeit not consistent with anything else)- primarily for the two reasons above (that effect me with every single page load)
Arepo: You’re absolutely right. It’s not like Mozilla ever complained about Microsoft’s dominance of the market, am I right? This never happened. Neither did this. In a world where there are often many valid complaints to bring about so many companies, I hate mouthbreathers who parrot fucking talking points that aren’t even valid.
FiXXXerX: A lot of the updates and functionality go back and forth between the mobile and desktop clients. I don’t see why they should stop, honestly.
It’s true that it doesn’t have a private browser mode, but I’m a big boy and there’s nobody else on my computer who’s going to be snooping through my shit, so I’m not overly concerned about that.
Opera is the best damned browser I ever used, FireFox was never as Fast, Google Chrome isn’t as feature packed, Safari can’t shake a stick at it.
Seriously when it comes to Opera, no matter how many features it gets, it never slows to a crawl (unlike FireFox) Opera Link is also a win, Speed Dial & my recent favorite Unite.
I’ve been running Opera 10 Beta since it was available, and it’s damn good.
I use both the latest Firefox and Opera at the same time, since both have their strenghts, but overall, I prefer Opera. Firefox biggest strenght is that you can pretty much add any features through extentions.
Opera’s biggest strenght is that you really don’t have to, everything is already there.

FF 3.5 has gotten sooo bloated and sooo slow. It’s like a WM phone from ATT: all bloatware.
Opera – for me – doesn’t run java well – but it never jamms up and is Faaasst!
not good, have a lot compatibility prob with a lot of chinese webpages where Firefox, IE or Google Chrome all rendered and produced much better results.
li, I think it’s not good that so many Chinese webpages aren’t standards-compliant.
That’s why they don’t render as well; they’re written for IE.

i been an opera user since three years,ive been testing google chrome for one month its a nice browswer it lack features opera 10rc is nice i think the best broswer are opera chrome and safari very stable browser
