AT&T’s BlackBerry Bold upgrade rolling out now

Happy Tuesday, BlackBerry fans — it looks like AT&T has a little present for you this morning. We’re getting a bunch of emails from readers letting us know that AT&T’s upgraded Bold OS is alive and ready to rock, just like we told you it would be. For those of you who were too lazy to have visual voicemail set up early — or just too busy to deal with customer service — things just got a whole lot easier for you. So what are you waiting for? Let us know if the upgrade is available for you yet and if so, let us know how it goes in the comments section.

UPDATE: As we should have mentioned initially, once you’ve upgraded you can activate the visual voicemail option yourself from within the Manage My Account section on the AT&T site. One of our readers, Tarun, was kind enough to send in a screenshot, which is found after the break.

The update was available for me at 5:30 AM this morning and 4.5 hours later my Berry is still trying to restore from backup. Has anyone upgraded successfully? It’s not looking good for me right now. I’d use the desktop method if available yet.

If I search for a wireless upgrade, the only one it finds is .167, which is what I’m currently running. Should I upgrade and then maybe it will find the newest one?

At this point, it is only available to users with AT&T branded Bolds running their .167 OS… and is currently only available via the wireless upgrade option. Should be available to the rest of the world in a day or two.

if you are running .167 you have to go to https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/browseSoftware.do and download the latest update for your device. it SHOULD allow you to see the “wireless update” in the options menu. I am downloading it right now and gonna try it out.

Does this new release have the 2G/3G option under “Options”, “Mobile Network”, “Network Mode”? I’m currently running Mobilink’s release and having that feature is fantastic in downtown Atlanta.
