Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 to get official next week?
Rumor has it that the Sony Ericsson Xperia 2 will be made official next week at a yet-to-be announced Sony Ericsson press event. The QWERTY side slider is expected to debut with Windows Mobile 6.5 under its hood along with an 8.1 megapixel camera with auto focus, 3.5-inch WVGA OLED display, aGPS, 512MB RAM, 3.5 mm headphone jack and an accelerometer. With the HTC Touch Pro2 making the rounds, the Samsung Omnia II arriving soon and now the Xperia X2 likely getting official, it looks like Windows Mobile fans will have a smorgasbord of phones to lust after in the weeks and months to come.

excuse my ignorance, but stateside you have to buy this outright and it is only for att and like bands, correct?

I agree! The video of it showed some pretty cool Android UI enhancements. It would be nice, to see it in the flesh.
I find this phone a down grade from x1 in looks. WinMo 6.5, not enough to make me buy this ugly thing.
I hope this one is not a giant fluke like the first one was I mean that was a disaster
i agree, on the hardware side this looks like a downgrade. i hope that the software makes up for the x1 defects.

BoyGenius, do you have any info on the significantly more appealing X3/Rachael? ANYTHING at all?? I’ve been watching like a hawk since that glorious UI video was released last month, and I am dying.
I honestly don’t think I have ever been fiending for a phone like this. Ever.

It’s hard to get too excited about the X2 when the prospect of a Android X3 is in the air!
@Jray: not to mention that its not hard to get 6.5 on the x1 to begin with, although the accelerometer, camera, and extra RAM do look interesting… (hey is that a video out on the tab button?!)
It’s one thing to ‘announce’ a phone.. another to ‘release’ it.
Cmon Sony, less talk more action. Release this and the other Smartphones you have been taunting us with..
