Rhapsody app coming soon to an iPhone near you… Pending approval
Got an iPhone or an iPod touch? Got a Rhapsody ToGo subscription? Life is about to get a whole lot better for you… If Apple decides to approve Real’s new iPhone app, that is. That’s right folks, RealNetworks has submitted an app to the App Store that will allow ToGo subscribers to stream any and all music from Rhapsody’s enormous library via Wi-Fi, 3G or even EDGE. Considering the Rhapsody service is in direct competition with iTunes, logic might dictate that Apple will, umm, “pull an Apple” and find a way to reject the app. Rhapsody is doing its best to avoid rejection however, by limiting its iPhone offering to streaming only (no downloads/local storage). With about a million other music steaming apps in the App Store right now, it would be tough for Apple to warrant a rejection — especially with the FCC currently breathing down the company’s back. As a Rhapsody To Go subscriber who has been avoiding the iPhone mostly for the fact that it doesn’t support Rhapsody, this isn’t the fix I want. I want the iPhone to have protected WMA support so I can load my songs onto the internal memory; I don’t want or need to stream.
Seems to duplicate a core function of the iPhone, you can forget it ever getting approved.
If they approve this app, they better approve the SPOTIFY app too.
I’m jumping on the iphone boat if they’re approved. I will officially eat every negative word I’ve ever said about the iphone and jump the tmo ship.
This will never pass. This is against att’s interests because it will use more data and it will take away from iTunes revenue.

@AgBand If you’re a satisfied Rhapsody subscriber, the iPhone is significantly less attactive because it cannot function as your music player, even with all the other things it “has to offer.” It’s as simple as that, and it’s why WinMo is my current mobile OS. I’m guessing blur feels the same way.

Understood. I just thought it was strange that this would be the one thing that would convince someone to switch to an iPhone. But I understand what you mean, and it makes sense.
Don’t worry about the lack of features people. It won’t pass anyway. If Apple let’s this one through I’ll be super surprised.
I agree with some above. Rhapsody might make me give up my berry for an iPhone. Stream millions of songs to any computer or my phone, sounds good to me.

I have an ipod touch and use Pandora,Last FM, etc. to listen to free streaming music via wifi. For $15 dollars a month, I am not willing to pay for music that I can not load onto the internal memory of my ipod touch. I would love to have Rhapsody To Go in its “true” form. To me this offering is just like the other streams, but with a price.

why don’t you just get the zune hd.
Because 1) the Zune is not compatible with Rhapsody, and 2) it’s not a phone. Hi, I’m a converged device. Nice to meet you.
