Want Visual Voicemail on your BlackBerry Bold today?

We just got a tip that while the upgraded BlackBerry Bold OS for AT&T won’t be released until Tuesday, the feature code for Visual Voicemail for BlackBerry handsets is in the system. You know what that means, right? If you’re running a Bold OS that has the Visual Voicemail icon on it, you can call up your friendly AT&T customer service rep, ask them to add the Visual Voicemail feature to your account, and you should be good to go. We’ve confirmed this with one of our Bolds — let us know if you get it going.
Before we forget… this is a free feature for all BlackBerry Bold users.
Updated with additional information after the break.
Here are some quick features that the BlackBerry Visual Voicemail system will provide:
- Store up to 40 voicemails for up to 14 days
- Archive voicemails to device memory or on a microSD card
- Forward voicemails as an MMS to other users or an email address
- Save phone numbers in your Visual Voicemail inbox to your address book
- Setup your voicemail including greeting right from the application itself

I called and was told that the feature is ‘greyed out’ so will have to call back tomorrow when it is available.
What will be the platform. I downlaod AT&T latest OS and I get Platform 4.0.0.235
No VM!
I was able to get it on my Bold. Customer service activated it without much question. Since I’ve got a newer OS build, so far, everything works perfectly.
After 2 hours between Chat and calls, finally got the feature active on my device..
Am running 5.0.0.130, but do not get an indicator when I get a message ..
Resent the service books…
Any ideas ?
AT&T just told me no dice until tomorrow at the very least/earliest. They also told me I can use the Wireless Upgrade option on the BOLD to get VVM. We’ll see.

It depends on the Rep you get on the phone. I called and was told it is “not in the system”. I called right back and the Rep said, “Not a problem.” It was added in five minutes. He had to “erase” the regular voice-mail and add vvm. All is good!
Just called ATT and they had me up and running with VVM in less than 5 mins. Easiest thing I’ve ever gone through with them. lol
Third time calling and still no dice. -shrug-
AT&T is open 24/7, and it doesn’t matter what number you call. You can even call 611. No need for wasting mins. with 1-800-531-0500?
What matters is how your account is provisioned.
There is no “special number” per se. However, BGR is correct, it’s almost as though the announcement that ensues post 9pm in whatever time zone the customer is in ought to be changed to: “We’re sorry. Customer Service is not available for our 2nd class citizens at this time”.
OK, after receiving a couple of comments indicating that VVM WAS now available I called AT&T again. This time I reached a rep who apparently knew about what she was talking.
She provisioned my VVM quickly and I was instructed to power off my phone then turn it on again. Thanks to all for persisting.

All this time to do an update just to get some fuckin’ tweaks and a pacman game!
What a monumental waste of time and energy! Where the hell is the Push to Talk application? Give me something I can actually use!
I was really hoping the new OS was going to be the 5.0 version, anyone know when that one is dropping?
@nothtckid Nice spelling.
how is it better than Youmail! I just moved to the bold and downloaded youmail yesterday, but had been using it before on my curve. I like how it greets my callers by name by using reverse look-up and offers, voice to text for an upgrade.
i’m assuming blackberry voicemail, can greet my callers by name as well, since everyone who matters to me is in my rolodex already.
i downloaded youmail for my bold and every time i got a new message it would freeze when i would go to play it…any ideas?
Hi Jordan..please set “autoplay” to never on your Youmail settings. There’s an issue in certain circumstances – usually when people do not have BB messenger installed on their phone. We’ve fixed it in the next version that’s working it’s way through the process of getting into AppWorld.
