BlackBerry Bold 9700 shows up in Bell’s inventory
It’s Saturday and we’re in the midst of a company picnic that involves copious amounts of alcohol and plenty of good old fashioned debauchery, but we thought we’d take the time to let all the BlackBerry lovers out there know that Canada’s Bell now allegedly has the BlackBerry Bold 9700 in its system. Upon seeing the handset in inventory, it’s easy to jump to conclusions and assume that the new Bold is about to ship to dealers (and that Bell’s HSPA network overlay is about to have its switch flicked). We should caution you though, that it’s pretty standard for all Bell devices to show up in the inventory system as many as four months ahead of launch. Translation: sit tight and keep the faith.

Tour and 9700. Lucky
Feel free to correct me, but shouldn’t a bell berry be listed as a 9730? I thought the “00″’s were all gsm phones
That’s a stupid assumption adam.
9700 is GSM only, so it doesn’t have to be 9730 or 9750 or 9755…bold is 9000 on all carriers who carry it, so stfu.
Potential HSPA launch handset.. nice.
…”we’re in the midst of a company picnic that involves copious amounts of alcohol and plenty of good old fashioned debauchery…”
Coming soon (9 months from now) to BGR! Guess who’s Kelly’s baby-daddy and win a Blacberry 9700!
Best BGR contest ever! Oh yeah, gotta love that hot-fire!
^^hehe

Nice cant wait for the Odin!!!!!
Sent via BlackBerry.
I wasn’t assuming anything. It was just a question. I figured a 9700 model would be gsm and bell is not a gsm carrier. Makes me think the pic is a fake or at least not for bell
Gozrilla evidently hasn’t gotten any in a while. sheesh!
@ Gozrilla.
It’s incredible to see how much ignorance is coming from you. This stfu was not deserve to Adam but to you.
He is right 9700 is for Gsm devices. But Bell is a CDMA compagny for now. This handset could be a future 4lte device.
So before you say SFTU to someone I guess you should ask your mommy if you’re permitted to use the family computer to browse the web.
you guys are all stupid telling eachother to STFU.. Bell is in the process of overlaying HSPA and will be launching that phone.
@Adam
Bell will be soon a “gsm” carrier as their HSPA network is almost ready to launch…
how did you guys find boy genius? bell has been converting over to HSPA for a while now… Finally some more 3G blackberries.. thats the one thing i dont understand about blackberries is the lack of 3g on most handsets (yes i know that the storm and bold are both 3g, and there are others coming forthwith)
forgive my ignorance. what does “STFU” mean
what does “STFU” mean…
‘Shut the sleep with (Change that to a four letter word starting with “F”) up.’
I always thought it was
“Sorry, Thanks For Understanding”
Man you’re an asshole. Just sayin’.
The shared Bell/Telus HSPA now being deployed across Canada looks to be everywhere, including remote places where Rogers’ HSPA coverage doesn’t exist yet.
Do a network scan on an a 3G HSPA compatible device and look for network ID 302-880, this is the new HSPA network that they are deploying. Not live yet, but definitely out there.
When they switch this network live, it looks like they will instantly become the largest 3G HSPA network in Canada, leaving Rogers wondering what just happened to them…
Bell and Telus have repeatedly told me that the new network will come into effect in January or February. I am not expecting any earlier but if it does, that’s great!
Just to let other know that dont know it the Storm and Tour are HSPA ready phones as well. the GSM can also be unlocked on those phones and be used if you are roaming to avoid ridiculous roaming charges for us Canadians.
and its showing 9700 as in the 9700 series, note how you see it as unsubsidized. another words un branded.
some of you people got to quit hating, but also know what your talking about.
Just so everyone is up to date.
BELL and TELUS are switching to GSM at any moment. They will run both systems for a while.
They are cashing in on the HUGE money to be made during the VANCOUVER 2010 WINTER OLYMPICS.
Hey the rest of the WORLD is GSM and they will all be here in 2010 for the Olympics.
That’s what I had heard as well… Big announcement before 2010 Olympics.
Not sure yet on what to make of the Tour being HSPA “Compatible” vs the BOLD true HSPA phone.
Will the Tour’s be upgraded to use the new network?
