3,563,849th image of Apple’s tablet surfaces
Behold! The latest “no seriously, this is the real thing!” image of Apple’s forthcoming, maybe real, definitely imminent, 100 percent fabricated, probably not, kind of confirmed tablet computer hit the net this morning. This time around, it comes from a French blog with a fair track record and its source is not disclosed. Right on. The image shows a device that certainly fits in with the design of the iPhone/iPod touch and iMac, though the placement of the home key is a bit odd considering such a device would be held by its ends. The most interesting aspect of this particular iPad/MacBook Touch/Macblet/iTab/Aplet/etc is the depiction of OS X on the display. Recent analyst guesses indicated that the device would run some iteration of the iPhone OS rather than some iteration of Leopard, but this image suggests otherwise. Whatever. Hit the jump for a zoomed out version of the shot and then hit the comment section to tell us how you know with absolute certainty that this image is fake because you’re a forensic scientist who specializes in Apple tablet authentication.

You guys are just horrible. Apple rules the computing world and all you can do is slam their efforts. PC’s are dinosaurs and Macs are the new hot thing. Please take your piss-poor attitudes elsewhere. This thing will sell as well as the Kindle (which I own and love but will trade for an Apple device). Every single Mac product I have owned has worked perfectly out of the box and never crashed. Watch out, folks, this will be like another iPod revolution. Get used to it.
I would guarantee that it will not have an optical drive. And also, that this photo is fake.
From the article: “Hit the jump for a zoomed out version of the shot and then hit the comment section to tell us how you know with absolute certainty that this image is fake because you’re a forensic scientist who specializes in Apple tablet authentication.”
Fake. You can find the installation graphs of OSX on google. I could do a better (and more convincing) job with Photoshop.
Angles of the home button and bottom of the screen don’t line up; home button is pasted. (magnify the image and you see what I mean)
Fake.
iTch-a-Sketch?
I really hope that isn’t the final product. That looks pitiful. Apple can do better than that.
Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).
Well I don’t want to bragg but I have an Apple iPad and that’s no Apple iPad.
Ok maybe it is, or not, or is, not sure cause I don’t have one yet. In any case if there is one you can see a real photo of the Apple iPad, well either next month in Sept 2009, or in Oct 2009, or in early 2010 according to all the blogs, or never.

I’m surprised no one has commented on the size of the button, rather than its placement (which I agree is odd on the side). The button maintains the same button-to-screen size ratio as an iPod/iPhone. There is no reason to do that! Just because the screen is larger doesn’t mean it makes sense to scale the home button proportionately.
Nice concept, bad execution.
It’s not very big. Maybe that is supposed to be the bottom.
Obviously a fake.
There’s zero chance that Apple’s engineers would position the Home button on a seam using PhotoShop.
To quote grrr, “Wow. That looks like shit.”
Its not real it is shopped, look at the lower left corner of the “screen” how close it is to the edge in comparison to the right side. Look at the edges of said screen not a shadow nothing it is flat as flat gets. Look at the shadows and the light source in comparison to the phone.
This is a very nice could be maybe but it is not reality.
Fake. All the rumors have pointed to a 10″ Touch screen, this image, from my best guess, the nokia is around 4 inches tall. And compared to that, that screen looks barely 8 inches.
Yea I do agree with some of you, this does look like someone went into Photoshop and stretched out the iPod Touch 1st Gen. If anything… I think Apple would use their new UNI-BODY design… and I’m sure there would be an iSight camera, seeing as though this would be communications device. And I highly doubt there will be a home button. Apple will but Snow Leopard on the table for sure, which will have no use for the button. Anyone think there will be a trackpad, similar to the one found on the new Blackberry Curve 8520?
Give me one device that does it all please. My pockets look a squirrel storing up for the winter. I’d like to combine:
1. My iPhone
2. My higher pixel digital camera that also does video clips
3. My Kindle 2
4. My high-capacity iPod (I need over 100GB to store all my media and the iPhone won’t cut it)
I used to throw my PDA into this list before my iPhone, but it combined that into my phone nicely.
If Apple gives me a tablet that does all of these things about the size of the Kindle 2 (I could do video conferencing on a screen like that!) and I will gladly haul something that size around everywhere. And pay for it – I mean, add up what I’m already paying for all these gizmos anyway.
iPhone for fatties?
This is a fake photo. There are a few Photoshop errors, but the most obvious is the home button is rotated slightly and it’s box doesn’t cleanly line up with lines of the casing.
Plus, there’s no way they’d install a full version MacOSX on a ITouch Jumbo, it’ll run Mac touch OS as it’ll be easy to upscale much of the apps.
Apple wouldn’t be missing the boat if they don’t do something, as the kindle is posed to replace textbooks in the education market.
That is so unbelievably fake – why hasn’t anyone noticed that exactly the same start up frame has been photographed in two positions when it is an intro-only animation so wouldn’t be possible unless it was a fake ….
AND – that the screen doesn’t line up with the edge of the tablet!? (its at an angle)
(By the by ‘hah’ – The Welcome screen is Apple-esq ….. its the start screen for their computer on first time load. first time only mind you which is why I have a problem with this ‘photo’)
This looks terrible. It’s far too similar to the iphone which means many of the millions of iphone customers won’t be interested in it. Also, if this runs iphone software and not mac os then even more similarities to the iphone will arise and will be a grave disappointment to many people. With mac os running on it, this will be a diamond product. Especially when there’s already a modbook touchscreen device that runs mac os out there.
I love how both pictures have the same Welcome. Isn’t the welcome screen supposed to be a video? How did they get the same part of the video for both pictures.. =S
OK That is not the real thing, Apple would have designed something way cooler looking and also the buttonshould be in the corner and it should be an actual power button like on the macbook not the iphones button. I’ve seen way better pictures of the Mac Tablet and they actual show a screen with the touch keys which would be hard to fake
you are worried about the button placement? Fucking americans…. look at the obvious things, size, of course it’s a rendering. Dipshit americans.
